In 1952 the 531 m2 split level school was constructed. In 1953 a 557 m2 split level addition was added to the south. The 1952 and 1953 buildings are clad with pre-finishedmetal siding. In 1966 a 702 m2 single-storey concrete block with pre-finished metal fascia classroom, washroom and office additionwas built to the north of the original school. In 1981 a 973 m2 single storey gym, library, staff room, classroom and washroom addition with stucco exterior cladding,wood soffits and ceramic tile detail under windows was built to the east of the school. The current total gross area of the building is 2,763 m2. The student capacity is 225.
General Summary:
Structural Summary:The 1952 building foundations consist of concrete grade beams and piles. The ground floor is constructed with slab ongrade. The original building and 1953 addition are split level with a partial concrete basement. The school building andadditions consist of load bearing concrete masonry unit walls with glulam beams. The roof structure is concrete toppedsteel deck. The structure of the building is in good condition.
Envelope Summary:The exterior walls are clad with prefinished metal siding (1952,1953), concrete block with metal fascia (1966) and stucco.Windows are vinyl on the original building and 1953 addition, and aluminum on the 1966 and 1981 additions. Main entry doors are steel framed storefronts and the roof is primarily Asphalt shingles, with an inverted roof on the 1952original building and 1953 addition. The building envelope is in good condition.
Interior Summary:Floors in corridors and classrooms are carpet, sheet vinyl or wood strip. Walls are gypsum board stud walls and vinylcovered demountable partitions. Ceilings are primarily suspended Acoustic Ceiling Tile or painted gypsum board.
Mechanical Summary:Surface type site drainage system. Municipal water supply from Town main. Heating system consists of three gas fired boilers. One Super Hot boiler installed in 1991 and two RBI boilers installed in2004. 50% glycol solution is provided for heating coils serving Air Handling Unit and Furnaces. Ventilation is provided by one multi zone air handling unit and seven furnaces serving classrooms and office area. BMCS controls for HVAC and heating through DDC devices.
Electrical Summary: The main service is fed from a utility owned pad mount transformer (size unknown) with secondary's feeding aWestinghouse 600amp 120-208volt 3phase 4wire MDP c/w a 600amp main breaker which feeds branch cct panelboardsand mechanical loads throughout. Mechanical loads are controlled by loose, wall mounted starters. Interior lighting hasbeen upgraded to electronic ballasts and T-8 lamps except for the gymnasium witch are standard core and coil typeballasts with T-12 lamps, controlled by line voltage switching throughout. Battery packs c/w integral and remote lamps,exit lights are LED style. Exterior fixtures consist of 100/250watt HPS wall and pole mounted fixtures controlled via timeclock. The fire alarm system is a Notifier 500 FACP c/w manual pull stations,bells,heat/smoke/duct detectors and doorhold open devices. A push button at the main entrance rings throughout the entire school, the intrusion detection systemis a Silent Knight c/w motion detectors, keypad. Clock system is a combination Simplex / Amano, Nortel Meridiantelephone system c/w handsets throughout. Rauland paging/call/public address/music system witch is obsolete.
