MODEL: 2003-2008 GP1300R, 2005-2008 VX1100TITLE: Throttle Cable Corrosion

SubjectThere is a possibility that the outer throttle cable could corrode and become cracked or kinked.

If the outer cable is damaged in this way it could result in the inner cable to wear improperly resulting in improper throttle movement. This could result in an accident or personal injury to the operator and/or passenger.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected

watercraft must have the throttle cable replaced with one of the new material

MODEL: 2006-2008 and Certain 2009 FJR1300A/AETITLE: Main Switch

Page 22: Recalls May 2013

SubjectThe main ignition switch’s wire connection could overheat due to electrical resistance,

becoming hot enough to melt the solder connecting the wire to the main switch. The wire could come off the switch if the solder melts, preventing the electrical system from functioning, If this occurs while the motorcycle is being ridden, the engine would stall and be impossible to restart which could result in an accident with injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected

motorcycles must have the main switch replaced with a new one designed to prevent overheating.

MODEL: 2008-2009 XV17PCTITLE: Fuel Hoses

SubjectDue to a manufacturing error the correct fuel return line hoses are not EPA approved.

Initiate Campaign:To correct this defect, Yamaha is replacing the fuel line hoses on affected units.

M2009-032R

MODEL: 2005 FZS600T, YZFR1T, AND FJR1300TTITLE: Engine Idling

SubjectIn affected motorcycles, an improperly designed Throttle Position Sensor could cause an

intermittently unstable idle. This could cause the engine to stall at low speed operation possibly resulting in a crash or injury.

Initiate Campaign:Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Unmodified affected motorcycles must

have the TPS replaced with a new one.

AT2010-003R

MODEL: 2008-2010 YFM5FG YFM7FGTITLE: Steering Column

SubjectIn affected ATVs, the steering column support assembly can crack near the mounting area

under certain riding conditions due to insufficient strength. This could result in reduced steering ability which could cause loss of control and result in injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:

Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. This campaign will replace the original aluminum steering column support with a steal one that has increased strength.

M2010-010R

MODEL: 2009 VMX17Y/YCTITLE: APS/TPS Wiring

SubjectIn affected motorcycles, there could be excessive electrical resistance in the ground wire for

the accelerator position sensor (APS) and the throttle position sensor (TPS) due to insufficient crimped connections. This excessive resistance can cause incorrect signal to be sent to the engine control unit (ECU) which could lead to unstable engine idle speed and or keep the idle speed from falling below 3000 RPM when the throttle is released which could cause loss of control and result in injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:

Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Affected motorcycles will have an additional sub-lead wire installed that bypasses the problem area which prevents the excessive resistance

M2011

MODEL: 2011 FJR13AAS/AASCTITLE: Front Brake Switch

SubjectIn affected motorcycles, the brake light may not aluminum eight when the front brake lever is

applied because the activating mechanism in the front brake switch can bind. If the brake light does not come on to alert other drivers when the motorcycle operator applies only the front brake, there could be a crash resulting in injury or death.

Initiate Campaign:Yamaha is initiating a factory modification campaign. Affected motorcycles will have a new

front brake switch installed.
