Scrambler Side Stand Pivot Fastener Models: Scrambler Model Year 2015-2017; Scrambler Sixty2 Model Year 2016-2017 (all model and country versions) Recall Bulletin SRV-RCL-16-004 Date: January 10, 2017 To: Dealer Principal, General Manager, Service Manager, North American Dealer Network From: Richard Kenton, Technical Director; Jonathan LaForte, Technical Manager Important: All Dealer Principals, Service Managers, and Parts Managers should read and initial this notice. Dear Service Manager, this notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. NHTSA Campaign I.D. Number: 16V891 Transport Canada Safety Recall I.D. Number: 2016613 Situation: Due to Ducati’s ongoing product quality testing and analysis of your feedback on motorcycles in the field, we have found a potential problem with the side stand fixing system for the above-indicated models. It’s possible for the side-stand pivot retaining nut to loosen and disengage. The nut’s loosening can in turn allow the pivot bolt to loosen. If this were to occur the side-stand switch sensor could fail to detect the stand position (up or down), leading to one of the following consequences: with the side-stand up, at a standstill, the engine could stop running upon first gear engagement; with the side-stand down, the bike could still be ridden; with the side stand-up, the engine could stop running while the bike is being ridden. We have re-designed the side-stand pivot by increasing the length of the threaded section (from 15 mm to 17 mm) and we have updated the tightening torque of the pivot nut. On all the involved motorcycles it is thus necessary to perform four operations: 1) Replace the side stand pivot with a new version part no.55610662AB (the new component is galvanized, black, and with a 17 mm thread). 2) Apply Loctite 243 both on the pivot thread and the nut thread. 3) Update the nut tightening torque to 35 Nm (previously 24 Nm).

Number: 16V891 Transport Canada Safety Recall I.D. Number: 2016613 Dealer Bulletin: SRV-RCL-16-004 Dear Ducati Owner, This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act & Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Ducati Motor Holding S.P.A. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in Model Year 2015-2017 Scrambler, and Model Year 2016-2017 Scrambler Sixty2 motorcycles. Our records indicate that you are the owner of a Ducati motorcycle affected by this safety recall campaign. Please take the time to read this letter and help us take the appropriate steps to ensure that your vehicle is operating properly. What is wrong? Ongoing quality testing on the motorcycles as manufactured, as well as analysis of field reports, has identified a potential safety issue affecting all Model Year 2015-2017 Scrambler, and Model Year 2016-2017 Scrambler Sixty2 motorcycles. Ducati has determined that on certain motorcycles, the threads of the side stand pivot bolt may be too short to engage in the locking nut, potentially allowing the side stand pivot to become loose. As a result, the side stand sensor switch may no longer detect the proper position of the stand. This could cause the motorcycle to fail to start while parked, or could cause the engine to stall while the motorcycle is in motion. Additionally, it may be possible to start the engine and begin riding with the stand down. These conditions could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
