Director, Recreation & Sports Services

Welcome back to Fall!

We are excited you’re here and having join our many programs. As you view the newsletter, you’ll read the Intramural Sports team is gearing up for volleyball and flag football leagues. The Fitness Center has new equipment and Fitness Monitors will teach you how to use it. Group Fitness Instructors are offering over 40 classes each week and can modify movements to meet your comfort level. Climbing instructors are friendly and eager to help you challenge yourself on the wall or bouldering. Our first Outdoor Adventures trips a no-skills tubing trip to literally get your feet wet. The Aquatic Center team can teach you to swim, become a better fitness lap swimmer, or just enjoy the hot tub or 1M and 3M diving boards. Have a favorite sport? We probably have a sport club that you’d be interested in. If not, we can assist you in forming one. Also, don’t forget to grab a Yellow Bike to get to class or cycle around campus. A little sweat never hurt any of us. We are a very co-ed area, and you do not have to be in great shape to get started-we’ll teach you how to get there. Be friends with us on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Vine, and YouTube.

See you at Beach Bash!

H2GO! Is UWF Aquatic Center ’s newest water exercise class! Aqua Cy-cling or Aqua Spinning takes advantage of the many benefits of the aquatic environment. Similar elements of “dry spin” such as cardio bene-fits and mood boosting are incorporated into this water workout. Interval sprints and in and out of saddle riding are easier on the joints in the water. However, water offers 12 times the resistance of air! Aqua shoes are highly recommended.
