Rebel

Idea  1  For  this  project  I  decided  that  I  wanted  to  create  a  set  of  photographs  that  would  fit  the  theme  of  rebel.      For  this  I  came  up  with  the  idea  of  having  to  under  aged  teenagers  with  alcohol  and  cigare@es.    I  wanted  this  to  seem  like  the  ordinary/stereotypical  ways  of  what  an  elder  would  see  in  a  teen  and  believe  what  they  do  when  they  go  out  with  there  friends  and  what  they  do  behind  there  parents  backs.  This  comes  under  the  rebel  theme  as  it  shows  an  feel  on  rebelling  against  what  a  perfect  child  should  be  and  feels  like  the  parent  has  the  neglected  the  teenager  to  feel  like  they  need  to  be  like  this  towards  their  parent.  For  these  photographs  I  decided  that  I  would  photograph  two  models  smoking  and  drinking  alcohol,  with  what  seems  gothic/rebel  clothing  and  I  want  these  clothes  to  be  oversized  ripped  and  make  the  look  perfect  for  the  theme.  I  want  to  create  these  photographs  using  Photoshop  by  blurring  and  doubling  the  picture  to  make  the  picture  it  look  as  if  the  teens  are  drunk  it  what  they  can  see  through  their  eyes  when  they  are  drunk.  I  want  to  edit  these  photographs  further  by  prinGng  the  photos  and  ageing  them  by  making  them  screwed  up  and  making  the  colour  wear  away  from  them  creaGng  a  old  style  and  also  overlaying  the  photo  with  text  using  a  le@erset  by  scratching  the  le@ers  onto  the  page.                

Lukasz  Pukowiec  Lukasz  Pukowiec  is  a  famous  fashion  photographer  that  has  appeared  in  many  magazines  such  as  Vogue,  slave  and  many  more.    He  is  known  for  his  unique  twist  on  photography.  For  this  idea  I  looked  at  a  set  of  photographs  that  he  took  called  “Rebel  Rabbit”  this  photographs  focus  of  a  girl  who  portrays  the  role  of  a  rebel  but  with  a  twist  of  adding  rabbit  ears  there  for  creaGng  the  theme  of  the  rebel  rabbit.  I  like  this  set  of  photographs  as  there  is  a  range  of  colour  and  black  and  white  and  they  are  all  taken  in  a  bright  natural  light  which  gives  these  photos  a  natural,  perfect  look  for  the  model  making  her  look  vibrant  and  powerful  in  the  photographs.  I  also  like  how  these  photographs  are  taken  in  rural  areas  such  as  woodland  and  places  where  a  teenager  should  not  be  such  as  the  photo  of  her  siNng  on  an  industrial  pipe,  smoking  these  portray  the  views  of  rebelling  against  what  a  teenager  should  be  doing  but  then  it  shows  the  views  of  how  people  stereotype  teens  which  is  what  I  love  about  these  photographs.  

EvaluaGon    For  this  set  of  photographs  I  focused  on  Lukasz  Pukowiec’s  photography  called  Rebel  Rabbit.  For  this  set  of  photos  I  wanted  to  create  a  set  of  photographs  that  portrayed  a  teenager  rebelling  against  what  I  teenager  should  not  be  doing.    I  want  these  photographs  to  show  teens  on  the  street  smoking  and  drinking  making  it  look  like  they  don’t  care  and  they  are  showing  what  they  feel  is  right.  I  wanted  to  edit  these  pictures  so  they  were  blurred  and  doubled  so  it  was  if  the  teens  were  drunk  and  that  was  what  they  were  seeing  through  there  eyes.  I  feel  that  I  portrayed  that  well  as  my  photographs  were  a  very  good  match  to  what  my  original  idea  was.    The  only  down  side  to  my  pictures  are  that  I  feel  as  if  I  didn’t  portray  Pukowiec’s  views  as  well  as  I  could  of  done  as  the  only  thing  in  common  with  mine  and  his  photographs  are  that  they  both  follow  the  theme  of  a  rebelling  teen.      I  could  of  improved  this  by  adding  more  detail  to  the  photographs  by  using  more  props  such  as  animal  ears.    To  make  it  more  apparent  that  these  were  Pukowiec  inspired  photographs.  Overall  I’m  happy  with  my  outcomes,  I  like  the  worn  out  look  in  some  of  my  photographs  where  they  are  overlaid  with  text  aswell  as  I  feel  this  work  well  with  the  theme.  

Idea  2  For  idea  2  I  came  across  an  arGst  on  tumblr  that  created  these  images  of  people  but  took  away  there  face  and  background  and  covered  them  with  another  photo  of  a  memory  or  place  that  he  has  been  before,  these  pictures  of  the  past  and  were  taken  at  the  Gme  of  the  memory.    So  for  my  idea  2  I  decided  that  I  would  use  the  pictures  from  my  idea  1  and  take  a  new  set  of  portrait  pictures  and  hide  the  face  and  background  with  the  pictures  from  idea  one.    I  want  this  idea  to  portray  a  feeling  of  the  models  looking  back  on  the  past  and  looking  back  at  there  bad  old  ways  there  for  they  are  bad  memories  of  the  past  which  is  the  opposite  of  what  the  arGst  seeks  as  he  seeks  happy  memories  where  as  I  seek  the  bad  ways  of  the  past.    For  this  set  I  will  be  using  some  of  the  same  models  for  the  pictures  and  overlay  the  pictures  with  the  pictures  from  the  first  set.    For  these  photographs  I  will  be  ediGng  them  using  photo  shop  using  the  masking  tool  and  overlaying  tool  and  then  for  development;  I  will  print  the  portrait  photographs  and  cut  the  faces  out  leave  the  clothes  and  hair  and  sGcking  it  over  the  top  of  a  first  photograph.    Then  I’ll  photograph  these  photos  again  and  edit  them.    Also  for  development  as  the  background  pictures  are  black  and  white  I  will  go  a  step  further  to  reedit  these  photos  in  black  and  white  to  see  the  outcome.      

Erin  Case  Erin  case  is  an  arGst  I  came  on  tumblr.  Case  is  an  up  and  coming  new  photographer  who  I  came  across  he  took  a  set  of  photographs  called  “see  the  world”  he  took  a  set  of  photographs  of  hair  models  with  there  hair  perfectly  done  by  a  hair  arGst  and  took  photographs  as  if  they  were  for  a  famous  hair  salon  such  as  Toni  and  Guy,  as  this  is  the  style  he  wanted  to  show  the  viewers.  He  then  goes  a  step  further  to  edit  these  photographs  by  removing  the  face  and  any  skin  showing  and  someGmes  the  original  background  and  replacing  it  all  with  a  photograph  from  a  past  memory.  To  me  I  feel  these  photographs  portray  a  feeling  of  what  the  models  personality  like  (the  memory  photograph).    Meaning  this  would  be  there  photograph  that  Case  would  replace  on  the  photograph  instead.    Feel  that  these  pictures  are  very  delicate  as  they  take  a  lot  of  Gme  to  create  and  they  are  very  detailed.    I  like  how  also  the  hair  colour  compliments  the  colours  in  the  new  replaced  photograph,  making  these  a  strong  set  of  photographs.      

EvaluaGon    For  this  set  I  focused  on  Erin  Case’s  set  of  photographs  called  “See  the  World”  I  wanted  to  take  a  set  of  photographs  that  were  portrait  photos  of  the  same  people  in  the  original  set  one  photographs  and  I  want  to  remove  there  faces  to  create  the  feeling  of  looking  back  on  there  bad  ways  and  how  its  changed  them  for  the  be@er.  I  feel  that  I  have  portrayed  theses  in  the  right  way  and  I’m  very  proud  of  what  I  have  achieved  out  of  these  photographs.    I  wanted  to  edit  these  photos  further  by  seeing  what  they  would  look  like  in  all  black  and  white  and  I  feel  they  came  out  very  strong  and  they  are  just  what  they  hoped  they  would  be.  I  also  wanted  to  develop  these  photos  in  the  same  way  as  I  would  on  photoshop  but  by  hand  by  removing  the  showing  skin  and  replace  it  with  a  new  photo,  this  however  didn’t  work  as  well  as  hoped  for  but  I  did  get  a  couple  of  photographs  of  these  and  changed  the  brightness  and  saturaGon  on  them  making  them  come  out  quite  strong  which  I  am  proud  of  also.    I  feel  I  could  of  improved  by  using  different  hairstyles  for  the  models  to  make  them  look  more  like  Case’s  photographs.    Also  I  could  of  took  another  set  for  the  replacing  pictures  that  were  bright  and  colour  like  Case’s  to  finish  the  complete  look  of  his  photographs.    Overall  I  feel  this  is  one  of  my  strongest  set  of  photographs  and  that  they  work  very  well,  and  they  also  got  a  lot  of  posiGve  feedback  which  made  them  strong.
