SWITCH EXPERTTM 8.0 (OSS) NETWORK MANAGEMENT OPERATIONAL SUPPORT SYSTEM

SWITCH EXPERTTM (SE) OVERVIEW Switch Expert (SE) is an IP-based client/server network element monitoring application that utilizes Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) strong encryption and meets the Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) mandatory requirements. SE is Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and Information Assurance (IA) certified for military networks. SE may be used by the NOC to simultaneously monitor multiple network elements (NE) in real-time and provide point and click access to Call Detail Records (Billing), Quality of Service (QOS), System Events (Alarms), Traffic Analysis, Secure System Access and integrated VB-Scripting. The traffic module provides short/long-term traffic trending statistics essential for proper provisioning of trunk groups, lines modules and remote switching sites. SE may be configured in a parent/child relationship; this configuration enables the SE children to relay locally processed call detail records, traffic and system events to its parent. SE maintains an alarm process that monitors and detects loop contact closures from external devices, such as system alarm status, environmental alarms, switch room access, etc. SE may be deployed in a High Availability (HA) configuration. The HA configuration synchronizes between the primary and backup server. Each server is capable of running standalone in the event one fails. SE version 8.0 includes functionality that allows the application to process System Events (Fault), Secure System Access with VB Scripting (Configuration), Station Message/Call Detail Recording (Accounting), Operational Measurements and Quality of Service (Performance) and IP Intrusion (Security) for Genband A2/EXPERiUS, Cisco CUCM, Avaya CM, AS 5300, CS 2100, MSL-100, MG 1000M, CS 1000, and Meridian 1 PBX systems. Switch Expert Editions Switch Expert 8.0 introduces three (3) server editions to meet customer requirements, both small and large.

Small Edition: Provides a solid foundation for businesses that process less than 150k calls per day.

Standard Edition: Builds on the small edition foundation and increases call capacities to 350k per day.

Enterprise Edition: For the larger customers who demand real-time performance when processing more than 350k calls per day, the SE 8.0 Enterprise Edition is scalable through an optional MS SQL database with multiple SE 8.0 server integration, providing greater scalability and fault tolerance. A user accesses the SE client 8.0 application through a site-provided management workstation. The user logs into the workstation through two-factor authentication. The user also logs into the client application with a username and password and enters the associated Personal Identification Number (PIN) to their Common Access Card (CAC) for two-factor authentication access. Switch Expert uses FIPS 140-2 compliant AES 128/256-bit encrypted TLS for client/server traffic.

SWITCH EXPERT™ (SE) KEY FEATURES SE Follows the FCAPS Model FAULT - This module processes all events and alarms produced by the switching system and incorporates an integrated system event analyzer. CONFIGURATION - This module provides users with Secure System Access (SSA) for command line maintenance, along with integrated predefined and customizable VB Scripting for terminal sessions via RS232, Telnet Rlogin, and SSH. ACCOUNTING - This module consists of ad-hoc call detail-recording queries, in addition to assignable cost codes for automated bill delivery processes. PERFORMANCE - This module processes raw switch data used to produce meaningful switch performance reports, which include short- and long-term attendant console reports and trunk utilization studies. SECURITY - This module can be configured to record every key stroke issued to the host system by service order or maintenance personnel utilizing the secure system access process. Authorized security personnel may then perform security audits by retrieving the recorded commands by Date, Time, User or Command used.

SWITCH EXPERT™ (SE) KEY MODULES Included Modules Station Message/Call Detail Recording - Provides real-time tracing of all completed calls. The real-time tracing is accomplished through a powerful and easy-to-use report wizard that can search for individual station usage, authorization-code usage, bomb threat and harassment calls at a rate of 1.5 million records per minute. This automated process replaces manual, time-consuming and error prone procedures that could take days to complete. Operational Measurements (Performance) - SE provides numerous reports to supervisors and administrators, along with long-term traffic trending statistics essential for proper provisioning of trunk groups, lines modules and remote switching sites. Network Element Monitor (NEM) - Allows one SE primary/parent server to collect the Call Detail Records, Traffic Reports, and System Events from M1/CS 1000/AS 5300/A2 systems with a maximum of 250,000 busy hour attempts per deployed system.

System Event Monitoring (Alarms) - Provides structured access to all system events generated by the managed telephone systems. This module also provides alarm notifications via Email and SNMPv2 and v3 traps. System Event Analyzer (SEA) - Allows point and click analysis of thousands of Critical, Major and Minor system events. SE accomplishes the analysis by allowing the end user to breakdown/analyze like events based on selectable text within the events. Secure System Access (Configuration) - Provides authorized clients with remote switch access and integrated VB Scripting through the SE server. Report Scheduler (RPT) - Allows the customer to schedule Traffic, System Events, and SMDR/CDR reports and have the output produced in HTML, XLS, PDF and Tabbed Text. These reports can then be automatically sent via email and/or FTP to their desired destinations. Station Message/Call Detail Recording (SMDR/CDR) Real-Time Redirect - This feature allows the SE parent to collect SMDR/CDR records from all children and redirect them to the billing server based on customer definable dialing parameters. This feature allows SE to record all calls, i.e., Trunk-Line, Line-Line, Trunk-Trunk and Line-Trunk, and redirects only the toll calls to the billing server via FTP, RS232 or TCP

client/server network connections. The redirected records can be the original raw ASCII data produced by the system or can be reformatted into tabbed delimited records with customer definable fields. Enhanced Map (MAP) - The map allows centralized clients’ visual alarm indications and point and click access to multiple sites with seamless alarm filtering. System Alarm Management (SAM) – Provides a hardware alarm monitoring and notification process. The hardware alarm monitoring is accomplished via an optionally provisioned USB Alarm Interface Unit (AIU). The AIU provides the customer with sixteen (16) incoming and sixteen (16) outgoing definable loop contact closure points. Contact closures may be assigned Critical, Major, or Minor alarm severity. Toll Fraud Monitoring (TFM) - Provides notification of completed calls, i.e., simultaneous/abusive authorization code usage and excessive/unusual domestic and international calls, such as long duration and unexplainable tandem calls. Email and SNMP notifications and paging are based on customer definable System Event, Hard Alarm, and Toll Fraud triggers.

Optional Modules Quality of Service Monitoring (QoS) - Provides real-time QoS collection of VOIP calls. The real-time tracing is accomplished through a powerful and easy-to-use report wizard that can search through 1.5 million QoS records per minute and is currently limited to CS 2100, A2, and the AS 5300. Core Billing Monitor (CBM) - Enables customer definable cost codes with definable billing codes. The CBM generates a monthly bill based on call usage for groups of lines, authorization codes and trunks. The bill is generated in PDF or Excel formats and is automatically delivered to an email

address, FTP site, network location or all of the above. The Call Detail Analyzer Module (CDAM) – This module allows you to perform traffic analysis based on dialing patterns and on originating or terminating identifiers. For example, detailed traffic reports with graphing on PRI trunk groups with highest simultaneous/concurrent calls counts displayed within a 5-60 minute selectable time intervals can be run. CDAM may also be used to automate reporting on ACD, UCD, Hunt, Virtual DNs, and Attendant Consoles and features ad hoc and scheduled reporting within the base module.
