Ybor City Development Corporation (YCDC) and the City of Tampa’s Depart-ment of Neighborhood Services, Division of Community Affairs held a free seminar, “Your Business and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)” in September.

The free seminar was designed to help local businesses learn how to meet the needs of customers with disabilities. Owners of historic properties – especially those with commercial tenants – risk being subjected to a lawsuit for failure to comply with the ADA due to the frequent changes in accessibility requirements.

The presenters discussed how to comply with the accessibility and accommodation requirements of the ADA and recognize service animals. The session identified 21 changes that every building owner can make to become more compliant with the requirements of ADA.

City of Tampa Television recorded the presentation and has made it available for on-demand viewing at www.yborcityonline.com/support-and-development/business-resources or www.tampagov.net/ycdc.
