Ready to apply for a postgraduate dentistry programme? You first need to create your eVision account. Creating your account is a simple process. If you’re a new student, start at the Postgrad Dentistry Qualifications page. Select the programme you would like to apply for and from that page click the Apply Now button (which is only displayed while a programme is open for applications). This takes you to the eVision login page. Select Create new account. After you confirm you are a ‘New User’ and provide the required details eVision will allocate you a Student ID number. Once you receive an email confirming your login has been created, you can log into your eVision portal. You initially use your personal email address to log in. Previously studied at or applied to Otago? If you have previously studied or applied to study at Otago you will already have a login. If you’re not sure please contact AskOtago to check. Ready to complete and submit your application? To submit your application, log into your eVision portal and select Complete application. eVision fills in part of the application with the details you provided when you created your portal such as personal details and the programme you wish to study. Complete each step until a check mark appears in the circle on the left-hand side. You may need to upload additional information such as evidence of previous study. When the instruction changes from Complete this stepto Review this stepit means you have completed the step but are still able to edit the information. Once you submit the application, you wont be able to edit the information until your application has been processed. At the end of the application you will be asked to agree to a formal declaration. This is a legal statement that you will abide by the Universitys rules. Once you have read and agreed, you can submit your application for processing by the University.

If you’re a new student, start at the Postgrad Dentistry Qualifications page. When you are satisfied that you have entered the correct information move on to answer the additional questions for your programme and upload your application documents.For Stage One you need to upload

• your CV,

• your Essay

• and your Academic Transcript (you don't need to upload a transcript from TheUniversity of Otago).

• Send each of your referees a report form. You may do that now or wait until round onedecisions are made. Referee reports need to be in by July 10.

• The Supporting Information Form may also be uploaded now or before July 10.

• Please note: the DClinDent and MComDent are Papers and Thesis programmes all other programmes are papers only

• In most cases* you will do papers only in your first year and start your thesis in year 2.• As you apply you will receive a screen of research proposal assessment questions which asks

for your subject selection and programme specific questions as per below.• For DClinDent and MComDent* Thesis component choose “Papers and Thesis” and• Answer “No” to beginning the thesis this academic year (You will start your thesis in year 2)• For all other programme enter papers only

Research proposal – not required The following supervisor link screen will appear.

• You do not need to provide a topic overview click "continue."

What happens after you’ve submitted an application? Once you’ve submitted your application, Student Administration processes it for University Admission and/or Programme Admission which includes:

• Verifying your identity

• Checking your University Entrance qualification

• Verifying that you meet minimum age and language requirements

University Admission You will be contacted via your eVision portal if you need to provide any information or documentation. Your application will be in a ‘University Admission pending’ state until Otago has received all relevant information. You’ll be informed of the outcome of your application via eVision.

Programme Admission – a Two Stage Process The Faculty of Dentistry is responsible for your programme admission. This is a two stage process. For the first stage you will be asked to provide a CV, and an essay along with your academic transcripts. These documents must be uploaded to eVision on or before the 31st of May in the year prior. The relevant academic staff will assess your application against the programme admission criteria and your application will be ranked against other applications, only the highest ranking application will progress to stage two. After the first round of assessment you will be advised either that your application will go on to stage two and you will be asked to provide additional documents or your application will be declined. Stage two assessment will include reviewing your referee’s reports, contacting your referees and may include an interview in person or via Zoom. You will also need to provide a number of compliance documents. When final decisions are made you will either be offered a place in the programme, offered a place on a wait-list (both of these via eVision, which you can accept or decline), or your application will be declined.

Your place may be conditional upon providing further information, completing further steps, or gaining University Admission. Once you've accepted your unconditional offer, you can proceed to course enrolment.

Time-line for Applications

1 April – May 31 applications open in eVision

Applicants submit: Essay, CV, Transcript

June 22-26 Shortlisted Applicants asked to send additional documents. Unsuccessful applicants advised via eVision

Additional documents required: Referee Reports COG/Registration Serology

July 13-July 30 Interviews if required. Some programmes may require preparation for an interview; applicants will be advised.

August 5-14 Offers made, Wait-list offers and Decline letters sent

Offers should be accepted as soon as possible in eVision

Sept 1 and following

Offers made to waitlisted applicants as places become available
