Students, you are required to write an argumentative

essay on a topic of your choice. You will work in pairs

to complete this assignment. Follow these steps:

1. Choose a responsible partner to work with.

2. Select a topic from one of the following:

A. Children under 14 should not be allowed on

social media sites.

B. ALL smokers should have to pay a health tax.

C. Too much money is a bad thing.

D. Students should have to pay for Internet

access while at school.

E. Students should NOT be required to show

their work in math classes.

3. Establish your audience and purpose for sharing

your point of view with your audience.

4. Begin your research to find articles that support

your position on the issue. Do you agree with the

claim, or are you against it?

5. You must have at least three strong reasons with

sufficient evidence and examples to support your

argument/point of view!

6. Prepare a conclusion that sums up your argu-

ment. Make sure you leave your audience with

something powerful to think about, or give them

something challenging to do!
