Applications In this section, we provide all the information that is known about this specific application (i.e., model number, years of manufacture, part numbers, Firestone reference numbers and competitor numbers if known). 2. Order Number This number identifies the specific assembly order number that needs to be used for ordering purposes. It is important that the complete order number is used to avoid any confusion, especially with any type of electronic ordering. The complete order number in the example is W02-358-7017. 3. Cross Section View This section is a cross sectional drawing of the Airide spring showing dimensional information in inches. The two heights shown to the right of the drawing are for extended and compressed measurements uninflated. The part number shown at the left is the last four digits of the A.O.N. (Airide Order Number). In the example, W02-358-7017 is abbreviated to “7017” . The last 7 digits of the A.O.N. are stamped into the lip of the cap, around the perimeter. The components of sleeve style springs
1. Combo StudCombination mounting stud and air fitting.
2. Blind NutA blind tapped hole in either the piston or cap.
3. Air Fitting HoleWhen using a blind nut or stud instead of a combo stud,a separate air fitting is required.
4. Clamp PlateAlso called the “Cap”, this is the upper aluminum orplastic end. This provides the mounting hardware, andnormally the air fitting.
5. BellowsThe heart of an Airide spring is the sleeve, or bellows. It is made of four layers: an inner liner of rubber, twoplies of cord reinforcement, and an outer cover.
6. PistonThe lower end of the assembly that the rubber rolls overis called the “piston”. This is also made of eitheraluminum or plastic. It provides the lower mountinghardware for the assembly.
7. Clamp RingThese are the metal rings used to permanently attachthe bellows to the clamp plate and piston.
