READing Starz Book Clubs Forum March 2013
About READing Starz “The more you read, the more you know”. The READing Starz Book Clubs Forum, an initittive of READ Educatioaal Trust, meets once a month to share their love of reading through games, readings, poetry recitations, prize giving’s and informaton and knowledge sharing. The objectie of the Forum is to teach youngsters how to start and maintain book clubs. It directs attente to the benefits of reading by supporting and offering existing book clubs a place to share ideas of what makes a book club work, what can be done to encourage the youth to read more and how to inspire and learn from each other. Forum meetings are held on the first Saturday of every month at the READ offices in Ormonde, Johannesburg. Guest speakers are invited to share their experiences and views on specifc books with the youth. These eager readers are also encouraged to submit book reviews that are published on the website, and involved in reading-orientated competitions. Readathon Ambassadors, Grethe Fox, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Hlubi Mboya and Ntsiki Mazwai are among the many poets, actors and other book lovers who add excitement to events. eMail: [email protected] to join the READing Starz Book Clubs Forum and to subscribe to its newsletter.
