PUE / The overall efficiency of a data centre can be determined by is PUE – the lower the PUE, the higher the efficiency. The PUE is calculated by dividing the amount of power entering a data centre by the power used to run the computer infrastructure within it. An efficient but traditional data centre will have a PUE of 2 or above . The next generation of data centres have significantly lower PUEs, saving some 40 per cent in power costs. InTechnology’s Reading data centre has been designed to deliver a PUE of 1.25.
