WHERE IS IT?

Meet Alice and John. They are brother and sister. Alice and John like to look for things.

When something is missing, they look and look and look for it. Today, Alice and John are at

home.

“ Where is my lion?” asks John. “Look, John! It is under the chair,” says Alice. “Ok. I see it,”

say John. The lion is under the chair.

Alice and John go out into the yard. It’s a sunny day. Alice is looking for her kitten. “

Where is my kitten?” asks Alice. “Here he is, Alice. He is in the tree,”says John, “Oh, no.

Come down,” says Alice. The kitten is in the tree. Alice doesn’t want the kitten to fall.

Alice an John are in the classroom with their classmates. “Where are my pens?” asks

the teacher. John and Alice look for the teacher’s pens. “They are on the desk,” say Alice.

“Thank you, Alice,” says the teacher. The pens are on the desk. Net to the book.

John and Alice’s grandmother comes to visit them. She cannot find her bag. “Where is

my bag?” asks grandmother. Alice and John look for the bag. The know some candy in

Granny’s bag. “It’s over here, Granny,” says John. “It’s next to the door.” Alice and John are

very, very happy.

LITTLE HELPERS

This is Tom. He is 5 years old. He likes to help out. He helps his mother in the kitchen. They

are making cookies and cakes. Tom likes to eat cookies and cakes. Tom makes a mess, but

Mom is still happy.

Amy is a good girl. She is a helper, too. She helps her father to wash the car. They are

working hard. Amy’s dog likes to wash the car, too. There is a lot of water everywhere!

Can you see Mark? Mark is with his grandmother today, He helps his grandmother at

the supermarket. They are doing some shopping. Mark sees some cans. Don’t touch the cans

Mark! Oh, no! Too late. The cans all fall down.

Look at Julie. She is with her grandfather today. They are walking in the mountains,

She helps her grandfather in the mountains. He helps her up the mountain, too, Be careful.

Julie! The rocks are falling on your grandfather’s head.

JACK THE HERO

This is Jack. He is walking with his mother. They are on the sidewalk. Jack can see an old

man. The man wants to cross the road. A big truck is coming. The old man doesn’t see it.

“Look out!” shouts Jack. “What is it?” the old man asks, jack looks at the truck as it zooms

past them. “Please be careful, Mr. Bell,” says Jack. Mr. Bell is very happy. He is not hurt.

“Thank you, Jack” he says. Jack saves Mr. Bell, He is a hero.

Jack is with his friends. They are playing baseball in the playground, Kevin throws the

ball and Rob hits the ball with a baseball bat. Look! Two men are holding a big window.

“Jack! Catch the ball. Quick!” shouts Ann. Jack runs and jumps into the air. He catches the

ball. “Got it.” Shouts Jack. His friends are happy. The two men are happy, too. “Thank you

Jack,” says one man. The ball didn’t hit the window. Jack is a hero.

VISIT THE CITY

Today is a holiday. There’s no school today. What can we do? Let’s go to the city. Come on,

get on the train. This train leaves at nine forty-five from platform seven. Quick! It’s about to

leave. We are going to the city. All aboard!

Look out of the window. We are on our way to the city. The train is going very fast.

Look. The train is going under a bridge, into a tunnel, and over a rive. Listen to the train on

the tracks, clickety clak, clikety clak. Everything is whizzing past the window.

NEW GIRL IN SCHOOL

Emma is a student at Riverside School, On day when Emma was in grade Four, a strange new

student came to the school. “Emma, this is Linda,” said Miss Taylor. “She’s a new student.

Please take her to Class 4 C”. Emma was in class 4C, so she knew exactly where to go. “Yes,

Miss Taylor, I like your bag, Linda.” “Thank you”, Linda had a very special bag.
