Each morning I get up I die a little

Can barely stand on my feet

(Take a look at yourself) Take a look in the mirror and cry

Lord what you're doing to me

I have to spend all my years in believing you

But I just can't get no relief, Lord

Somebody (somebody), oh somebody (somebody)

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work hard (he works hard) everyday of my life

I work till I ache my bones

At the end (at the end of the day)

I take home my hard earned pay all on my own

I get down (down) on my knees (knees)

Lord somebody (somebody), oh somebody (please)

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

(He wants help)

Every day (Every day) - I try and I try and I try -

But everybody wants to put me down

Wanna and gonna are frequently used in speech in informal colloquial English, particularly American English, instead of want to and going to.

Examples:

• “I ain't gonna face no defeat.”• “Someday I'm gonna be free, Lord.”

• I wanna go home right now.

Page 11: Reading (1)

Gotta is used to show the conversational pronunciation of have got to, or as informal alternatives to have to or must.

Examples:

• “I just gotta get out of this prison cell.”

• I gotta make my homework.

Dunno, meaning I don't know, is characteristic of very informal speech in British English.

Example:

• I dunno if I closed the window before I left.
