Mr Poole says “We are all part of one school, our bunting repre-
sents that.”
There is a quote on the wall that says “To celebrate our 350th an-
niversary we created our brilliant birthday bunting. Each piece
of material was donated by a pupil, staff member or friend of
school. They all hold a specific memory for the person who
donated it and when seen together represent the diversity of our
community.”
Remember what Mr
Poole said about
lunch time … keep
the noise down!
By Madison D-S
One day there was a lady called Mary. She was told by an an-
gel that she was going to have a baby. But Joseph needed to
pay his tax so he put Mary on a donkey and travelled along
the dusty road.
When Mary and Joseph had arrived at Bethlehem there was
no room for them but one innkeeper said, I have a stable you
can sleep in. Mary had her baby, she named it Jesus.
Three kings came to visit Jesus and brought gold,
frankincense, myrrh and some Shepherd's gave
him a lamb.
In the reception class
they have been doing
a topic of time detec-
tives. They have been
finding out about
things that have hap-
pened in the past. The
children have been
learning about di-
nosaurs, toys in the
past and comparing
them to the toys now,
the great fire of Lon-
don and many other
things as the weeks
go by.
They have been doing
printing in art and
everyday they do
something arty such
as collaging the
hungry caterpillar
and butterflies.

up to this term? It sounds
fun! There topic is
transport and they are all
excited about there school
play to! Their play was
called Myro the musical,
there were lots of different
animals. We interviewed
Olivia P and she was a jet
fitter. It was a bit like a
news report program, it
lasted for 1 whole hour!
And they all knew their
lines as well! Mrs Higgins,
Miss Kidd and Mrs Smith
did a great job producing it
and all the children were
great, they all loved doing

lovely calendars in lesson
time to give to there Mums
and Dads.
Miss Kidd’s class have had an
exciting last term before
Christmas. They had there bril-

Museum. They had a lot of fun
there and wrote articles about
there trip. Here is one they
wrote:
When we got to Crich we went
in the museum. Then we
looked at a tram. After that we
in one and Adam was a train
driver and Jess was a conduc-
tor.
Next we went in the play area
and had our snacks . When we
had finished them we played
and went for our lunch. Then
we had a ride on a real tram
and we went on the ton. The
conductor came round and put
a hole in our tickets. When we
had done we got off. We went
for a look at the sweet shop but
we could not buy any sweets.
At the sweet shop all the
sweets were in jars and there
was olden time tins. It was so
fun
WOW that was an amazing
piece of writing by a year

In geography they leant
about the continence of the
world also about Cristopher
Columbus. In D.T. they made
some brilliant model cars!
There attempts were brill, the
models look so much like car
types I love them and I bet you
would too if you could see
them. Sadly they have already
been dismantled and re– cy-
cled, to help save the environ-
ment just like the year 4,5 and

show you what your car looks like.

the computers, then they have printed them off and done
origami to build their car.

things this term. They have been making crib scenes
and then they sent them off to church. They have al-
so been experimenting if gas weighs anything. They
have finished swimming for this term and have been
improving. They have also had a student teacher
(Miss Veal) who will help the children do Christ-

When it was Victorian day
we all came in Victorian
costumes, there were lots of
different outfits, from the
Artful Dodger to Queen
Victoria herself! All morn-
ing the year 4, 5, and 6
teachers were really strict.
Even the class rooms
changed! The tables were all
separated and we had black
boards instead of white
boards.
Mr Attenborough brought
in a stick of bamboo to be
his cane. But in worship he
was being silly with it and
he accidently snapped it! It
was so funny. He went out
the room and then brought
in a brand new one! It was
so cool.
As well in the Victorian
topic we had to make 2D
Beam Engines We had to
make it out of materials in
school, in school time. It
was amazing fun!
This topic we are learning
about the environment
and how we can help save
it. We interview Maisie B.
She said that the D.T.
days are brilliant!` We
have so far made ma-
chines they could carry
1kg across 1m. Everyone
managed 500g but only a
few people got the full
1kg! The other D.T. day
we had was making junk
models!
Also for the rest of this
team we are going to find
out how electricity works
and do lots of science
things to! Written

Mrs Hallsworth`s class
have done a class assem-
bly called Keen to be
Green. The reason why it
is called Keen to be Green
is because that’s there
topic.
One of the sketches is called
the eighth day and this is
what happens. God creates
the world day by day and
then the humans start using
up everything such as cut-
ting down trees and other
non-environmentally friend-
ly things.
Another sketch was called
recycle, recycle, recycle and
it was about someone put-
ting a plastic water bottle in
the normal waste bin. But
eventually it got put in the
recycling bin.
They have also been doing
Tag rugby in PE and here are
some photos.

Competitions
Ilkeston Railway
There is a new station opening in Ilkeston and our
school has been asked to enter a competition!
It all started when a retired train driver came into
assembly and told us about a competition he has set
up where you make a poster about the dangers
around trains and railway lines. The posters will be
displayed at Ilkeston Railway.
Front Display
There was a competition where you would draw a
display when coming into school. The winner was
Henry G from Mr Redhead’s class. Mrs Eyre made
the display and is now viewable when you walk into
school through the front door!
Pudsey Bear Colouring and Poems
We had a competitions where the years EYFS and
Year 1 did a colour Pudsey Bear to dress him up and
Years 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 children wrote poems about

Operation Christmas Child
Some children are not as fortunate as us and do not get Christ-
mas presents like we do. The only money they have will be
spent on food and things their family need to survive. But there
is an organization to help children get things they need and
want for Christmas. Operation Christmas child gives children
important things and toys. The children who receive them
think that it is the best thing ever.
Volunteers help sort out the shoeboxes. They make sure that
there are no unsuitable items in the shoebox.
Celebration of Scargill’s birthday
Scargill’s annual 350th birthday was this year. We had lots of
fun dressing up, eating cake and generally celebrating. Altogeth-
er it was a very fun day and we have got our school bunting to
remember it.
