The ninth annual Master Gardeners Tour will run Sat- urday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. And the Linnaeus Teaching Garden in Woodward Park, 2435 S. Peoria Ave., is celebrat- ing its eighth anniversary from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. This unique garden features thou- sands of lush plants, gorgeous hardscaping, fountains and water features. The Tulsa County Master Gardeners picked the gardens for the tour this year based on the theme, “City Blocks to Country Lots.” Two of the homes are in the middle of Tulsa and two are in suburbs, Jenks and Sand Springs. This year, Sheryl Chadd and Rosie Gomez are co-chairing the tour. Chadd said they choose new homes every year to be displayed. The Garden Retreat at 1611 S. Delaware Place features an area big enough for several beautiful garden beds but small enough that it does not require much time to maintain. Roses are a favorite of the homeowner, and they are complemented by hy- drangeas, azaleas and camellias. The Tudor Garden at 2607 E. 14th St. compliments the whimsi- cal Tudor home. It is a traditional cottage garden that includes herbs, vegetables and lowers. The gorgeous Waterfall Garden home is located at 11709 S. Primrose St. in Jenks. The garden is built around a water feature made of Oklahoma sandstone and the pond is illed with koi and goldish. And the Four Acres Garden is a true country lot. The picture- perfect garden evolved during the last 13 years. “It is a true botanical trea- sure,” Chadd said. “As you are driving down the driveway, it gives one the impression that you are driving through a gar- den state.” The ifth garden is the Dem- onstration Garden that sur- rounds the OSU Tulsa County Extension oice building, 4116 E. 15th St. These gardens are maintained by the Master Gardeners and change as new plant cultivars become avail- able. Enter the gardens through the northeast arch, which is a memorial to past Master Gar- deners. “People will see lots of down- to-earth gardening on this tour,” Chadd said. The cost of advanced tickets is $5. For more information, call 918-746-3701. On the day of the tour, tickets are available at each individual garden location for $7. The show is set for June 27. Tickets start at $20 plus fees and go on sale at 10 a.m. Sat- urday. Tickets will be available at cainsballroom.com or by calling 877-4-FLYTIX. Yearwood, wife of Tulsa- native and country superstar Garth Brooks, last performed a concert in Tulsa in 2000, according to Tulsa World archives. However, she has been quite busy since then. Yearwood has written several cookbooks and hosts her own television show, “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,” on Food Network. The show earned Yearwood her irst Emmy award last year, which goes on the shelf with her three Grammy awards and her country music awards, which include Female Vocalist of the Year from the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association. Yearwood has released 10 studio albums and sold more than 12 million copies since 1991. Her last album, “Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love,” was released in 2007. She did perform several shows on a short tour earlier this year, including a stop in Durant in March. In an interview with the Tulsa World before that show, Yearwood said that she had focused so much on raising kids and her cooking ventures that music took a back seat. “I’ve been so busy with that, and I kind of looked up and said, ‘Oh my gosh, I need to sing,’ ” Yearwood said. Yearwood has lots of sing- ing ahead of her. She said she is working on a new album. Yearwood and Brooks are also preparing for Brooks’ upcom- ing world tour, which was announced earlier this year. From city blocks to country lots, some of the area’s best land-scaping will be on display this weekend.

The ninth annual Master Gardeners Tour will run Sat-urday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And the Linnaeus Teaching Garden in Woodward Park, 2435 S. Peoria Ave., is celebrat-ing its eighth anniversary from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. This unique garden features thou-sands of lush plants, gorgeous hardscaping, fountains and water features.

The Tulsa County Master Gardeners picked the gardens for the tour this year based on the theme, “City Blocks to Country Lots.” Two of the homes are in the middle of Tulsa and two are in suburbs, Jenks and Sand Springs.
