REACH 2017 1 REACH 2017 2

There is much here to learn, many people to talk with, prayers to offer, dreams to ponder, and callings to consider. In this booklet you will find the information needed to plan how you can maximize the opportunities of these two days. You will want to make final decisions regarding the breakout and ministry presentations you will attend. Perhaps you will want to pray through the list of participating ministries.

Faith Builders personnel will be close by if you have questions, suggestions, or concerns. Just look for the staff name tag. Also, there should always be someone available at the information desks in the lobby. We want to hear from you.

We invite you to pause for a moment and pray that this convention would indeed contribute to His will being done on earth as it is in heaven.

REACH 2017 7 REACH 2017 8

BREAKOUTS A An Update On New Technologies Ministries Can Use Matt Landis This session is a fast-paced survey of some emerging technologies that ministries might use from Microsoft and others. The kinds of items we’ll cover include: Useful new features in Windows 10 you might have missed, Gathering data from anywhere with Excel Online Surveys, how BOTs can help do your work, and how Microsoft is plotting to replace phone systems.Board Governance: The Four Core ElementsMerle HerrThis session provides an overview of the foundations of effective board governance. It provides an understanding of board governance through four simple core principles that, taken together, produce a complete model of governance. While non-profit board governance is never easy, it need not be cumbersome and confusing. Take your board to the next level of non-profit leadership by grasping and applying these four core elements!Characteristics Of Effective Ministry PersonnelRay StutzmanThis session will be a discussion of vision, focus, life goals, and values. Vision-reaching out: The impact on missions, family and community. Focus-temporal vs. eternal: or passing on an inheritance that is greater than monetary value. Life goals-retirement vs. kingdom work. That is, leisurely enjoying the fruit of all my hard work or promoting the cause of Christ. Values-The Church vs. the world. How do our values affect our mission?Clarifying Mission, Vision And ValuesMerle BurkholderWhat are vision, mission, and core value statements? Why are they important, and how are they determined? How can we keep them from merely being on a plaque on the wall, or a paper in a file drawer? This session will cover the importance, development and implementation of vision, mission, and core values statements.Course Correction: Ministry Direction, Personnel, And Constituency Issues (Panel Discussion)Richie LauerPerhaps all is not well at the nonprofit organization you serve. Sometimes this sinking feeling arrives unexpectedly, but, to be honest, we have usually known that a problem has festered for some time. Lacking the courage or energy to respond, or not quite sure what direction to turn, we have generally delayed changing course and therefore borne increased consequences instead. This session will provide some practical counsel about identifying and addressing situations that require a course correction.Finding BalanceEdith BurkholderIn this session, we will be doing a lifestyle survey of five different areas; time management, family and friends, finances, physical and emotional, and general attitudes. We will be breaking up into small groups to discuss the survey.

Leadership Challenges During Times Of TransitionMelvin LehmanTransitions are inevitable and most of the time dreaded. But does it have to be that way? The short answer is “No”! The longer answer raises a second question. How can transitions be positive experiences for personnel and organization? This question is the center focus of this session. Come with your ideas and questions and we will explore this question together.Maintaining 501(c)(3) Status (with “Ask an Attorney” session)Tyler HochstetlerThe legal climate in America is increasingly hostile toward religious, nonprofit organizations. We must be vigilant and proactive in taking steps to ensure that we are compliant with applicable state laws and IRS regulations. This workshop will provide practical legal advice from an Anabaptist attorney. (If your questions are not covered in session, you will be able to submit them at the end of the session for gratis follow-up advice).Ministering Cross-CulturallyRaymond BurkholderThis session will be prefaced with the biblical mandate for cross-cultural ministry. We will also consider practical things like communicating the Gospel cross-culturally at home and abroad. Practical considerations include speaking through an interpreter, cultural taboos, and avoiding dependency. This session will be an overflow of personal experiences of the teacher.Practical Suggestions For Sharing The GospelAllen RothDo you struggle to start conversations on spiritual topics with people? And once you do, with how to share the Gospel? This session is designed to give participants “hands-on” ideas for starting conversations and for sharing the Gospel. The session is designed by and for timid people! The Excitement & Challenges Of Starting A New MinistryKevin BaumanThe startup phase of a new ministry is often energetic and exciting! It does not take long before reality sets in and challenges come along. The work is discouraged. In this session we will be looking at the importance of having a worthy vision, the importance of structure, healthy communication and much more.Unseen Integrity: Developing & Implementing Effective Internal ControlsDennis YoderInternal controls can be like brakes on a car: unnoticed until they stop working. In this session we will discuss how to develop appropriate internal financial controls for organizations of various sizes, and addresses specifics such as handling cash, working with assets in international locations, and how to discuss the importance of internal controls with your board and staff. What Is Storytelling And Why Does It Change People?Leroy HershbergerTo be human is to hear and tell stories. In this session, we will look at specific elements of storytelling with examples and analysis.Working With Generation iYBrian MartinWhat should you know about working with young people? How can you fill gaps in a young person’s life that may impact eternity? What assumptions do I carry that hinders ministry? This session will attempt to address these questions, prepare to get involved!

BREAKOUTS B An Effective Newsletter: Accurate, Touching, & TastefulWeston ShowalterCompiling a good newsletter is one way we can “plead the cause of the poor and needy.” Accurate information, touching stories, well-written articles, good photos, and tasteful design are all a part of it. We will discuss what a good newsletter includes and doesn’t include.Avoiding Burnout: Maintaining Spiritual VitalityJohn CoblentzMinistry is typically taxing. There is always more to do than we can do. How do we take care of ourselves without being selfish? Is it possible to minister to others when we are tired or weak ourselves? We will take an honest look at habits that lead to burnout and then explore the means of maintaining spiritual vitality in ministry.Bible Translation: Why Not Leave It For Wycliffe? Aaron CriderWhy are conservative Anabaptists getting into Bible translation? Do we really have what it takes? Come ready to learn about those who still have no Scripture in their language, and consider how God has equipped us to respond to that present-day reality. From the front lines to the back-home supporter, discover what place you can fill in this growing work.Business And Brotherhood - Rethinking The RelationshipGary MillerMany feel the local church should have little input or influence in a believer’s business. Let business be business and keep it separate from the brotherhood. But is this correct? What if God desires that our businesses do more than just produce money? This session will take a closer look at our vision for both church and business.

Overcoming the “I” Of Cross-Cultural Communication Collier BerkshireEthnocentrism – A very unfamiliar word describing a very familiar problem and challenge. This problem/challenge becomes even greater as we consider reaching out across cultures from “inside” the realm of our own Anabaptist sub-culture. What are the challenges we face? How can we overcome these challenges and be more effective in our outreach efforts?Cross-Cultural Ministry In Urban AmericaReuben PetersheimHow can we effectively minister to those different from ourselves? How can we learn from the mass culture while not conforming to their ways? What are the important steps in understanding a culture? How can Mennonites, as a sub-culture, relate to and impact the mass culture in urban America? How can we realize and reach across our different ways of understanding the world?Defending Your FaithErnest Eby A quarter of Americans do not identify with any particular religious affiliation. Non-Christian religions are growing. “Science”, “problems with organized religion”, and “doubts about the Bible” are some of the reasons people give for why they do not consider Christianity. Are you prepared to answer their questions? Come to this session and consider how we as Christians can defend our faith with our words and through our actions.

Digging For GoldVal YoderGroup relationships are best maintained and strengthened in an atmosphere of approval. Most of us are energized by affirmation. Paul challenged us when he said, “For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory”. I Thess 2:11, 12Funding Your Ministry With Gifts Of Net WorthPaul A. MillerSo many missions are serving worthy causes–but are there enough available dollars among our people to fund them all? Most of the funds flowing to our ministries derive from cash income contributors are currently earning. The increasing number of ministries dependent on this same income stream can bring funding challenges. Charitable gifts of net worth, made from increases in asset values, can make a strategic difference. Learn how gifts of net worth can fund your ministry through a planned giving program.God’s Glory In The Refugee Crisis (Lesvos, Greece)Emanuel EshIn this session, we’ll watch the European refugee crisis unfold through the eyes of Isaiah 60. Surely this is one of the greatest opportunities of the age to reach these difficult people groups. This is a call to the church to arise and shine.Nonresistance And The GospelStephen RussellWhat connection does Nonresistance have to the Gospel? As Christendom disintegrates around us, we Anabaptists have a unique opportunity to awaken other Christians to the truth of Nonresistance and to point enquirers [seekers] to a more holistic understanding of the life God offers us in Jesus Christ. This session will show the importance of Nonresistance, its place in the Gospel message, and encourage our outreaches to recognize that fact and not neglect teaching Nonresistance.Serving Behind The ScenesPhil HershbergerHow do I find fulfillment and purpose in menial tasks? How can we serve Christ by serving others? This sessions takes a look at the big picture to motivate behind-the-scenes services.Slaying Giant DespairTim StoltzfusDiscouragement is one of Satan’s most well-worn tools. We all face times of discouragement in our lives. What are the smooth stones we can place in our arsenal to sling at Giant Despair?Stewards Of Eternal TreasureCurt WagonerThe Kingdom of Heaven was likened by Jesus to a merchant man who found one pearl of great price. ho is the merchant, and how expensive is the pearl? How ought the pearl to be viewed and handled in this day? This session is an introduction to the call to stewardship, the temptation to possessively accumulate, and the promised reward of eternal dimension to those who are faithful in this critical area of discipleship and ministry.

Thursday Breakout Descriptions

REACH 2017 9 REACH 2017 10

Thursday Breakout DescriptionsThe Joy Of Being God’s WomanClara SchnuppHow can joy be realized in our life as women? The Father calls us to live freely and spontaneously. How is that possible in such a troubled world? Ladies only. The Paperless OfficeDave NislyOverwhelmed with paper? Are you finding it hard to store and retrieve pertinent documents? In today’s digital era, it is possible to greatly reduce the need for paper, filing cabinets, and shelves of binders with electronic storage. Cost-effective tools are available to eliminate paper and expedite the retrieval of documents when needed. What Shall I Do? (Managing time and priorities) Cynthia BrubakerJohn Greenleaf Whittier writes, “Take from our lives the strain and stress and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace”. This workshop explores ways we can cooperate with God in pursuing this vision. Ladies only.

BREAKOUTS C Authentic LeadershipHenry BlankAuthentic is a bit of a buzz word lately. While the word has often been misused, it does express a deep longing in the heart of this generation for realness. In a world of fake TV preachers and phony politicians, what this generation desperately needs is authentic godly leaders. How is God calling us as men to be authentic leaders in our homes, our churches and ministries?Chairing Nonprofit BoardsGary MillerThe chairman plays a critical role in managing the oversight of a non-profit ministry. A well-functioning board of directors requires a board chairman who is an advocate, a delegator, a diplomat, and more.Developing Your Leadership “To Be” ListMerle BurkholderWe often think about all the things a leader needs to do. We focus on efficiency and function. In this session we will look at what a leader ought to be. We will reflect on how, out of a character based life, a leader can influence others to press toward the goal of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.Effective Board Structure And ProcessesMerle Herr Adequate structure and great processes provide the anchor to stable board governance. Board work is teamwork and boards usually consist of highly capable, seasoned individuals. Yet too often, the structure and processes fail to engage the talent and reap the full wisdom of board members. The culprit is often a fixation on operations to the neglect of board structure and particularly lack of quality discussion about what really matters!

God Loves StoryLeroy HershbergerDescribe the ineffable; present the Kingdom of God.Incorporating Mission Into Everyday LifeChris StoltzfusWe are busy but yet wish we could impact people on our journey. This session explores three basic principles of effective communication and a structured approach to making content that will grab and hold the attention of any audience.Nonprofit Fundraising Through Estate PlanningTyler HochstetlerNonprofit organizations need funds, and Anabaptists need estate plans. Many Anabaptists do not include charities in their wills and trusts because they do not have a will or trust. Further, many Anabaptists who do have estate plans need guidance on charitable giving. Come to this workshop to learn about wills and trusts, and how to promote charitable giving through estate planning.Prayer In LeadershipLeonard MastMany leaders seem powerless and ineffective. We will discuss why prayer is so important, why so little prayer happens, and ideas for making it happen.Raising a Family On The Mission FieldCarolyn RothNormal mothering challenges are often compounded on the mission field. Am I first a missionary or a mother? God provides resources for raising our families in missions, if we look both ways. Ladies only.Recruiting Ministry PersonnelRay Stutzman In this session I will be speaking about the importance of: Acknowledging ministry as the Lord’s work, proper referencing, being selective, accurate job descriptions, and establishing a relationship with your recruits.

That I May Know Him: Deepening Our Walk With JesusDonna Kauffman Because we live in a fallen world, we’ve all been sinned against and wounded in many ways. From this we adopt perceptions about God that are untrue. In this session we will learn ways to receive the blessed truths of the Word of God that will replace false beliefs with a deep settled confidence in the amazing love of our heavenly Father.

BREAKOUTS D A Businessman’s Perspective On FundraisingKevin BaumanBusinessmen receive many calls for funding charitable organizations. This session will focus on what approaches can be effective and which ones have a very low success rate.Being Great At HomeEarl Peachey Who I really am is best displayed at home. It is far better to be considered great at home, than to be praised and honored by those who are far off. How can I gain and keep the hearts of my family and those closest to me? We will explore the importance of faithfulness, simplicity, and integrity in relationships, especially at home.Financing Your Vision For Missions (without fundraisers!)Allen RothThis workshop presents the vision and rationale for the faith mission approach pioneered by missionaries such as J. Hudson Taylor of China Inland Mission renown but tailored to our own contexts of conservative Anabaptist faith communities. Ministering To Your NeighborsLois ReedJesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself ”. How do we flesh this out in a world of “meism”? To whom do you minister? What does it mean to “show mercy”? Or the flip side, when we are the neighbor and need to accept the mercy? How can we show mercy through encouragement, or how do we show mercy even when it’s not accepted. How can we show mercy in our bustling society? Come prepared to interact with the group!Ordering Your Digital WorldKevin ShenkTechnology should work for us, but too often we find ourselves intimidated, distracted, confused, and frustrated by the tools which promise to simplify and ease our endeavors. This session will explore strategies for harnessing the power of high-tech computing without being overrun by the digital universe.Relating To Old Order Amish And Mennonite DonorsRichie LauerOur churches are blessed with many competent and generous businessmen who play a vital role in funding Kingdom work. Nonprofit organizations who share values held by Amish and Old Order Mennonite donors can learn to develop rewarding relationships with them. The learning experience is a two-way track with mutual benefits.Stronger TogetherDarrell NislySupporting agencies, mission boards, administrators, missionaries, and receiving bodies are all important links in the chain to effective ministry. Strong, trusting relationships in this chain are crucial to ministering the Good News. Join us as we explore ideas to strengthen these relationships. The Annual Audit: What’s it Like and How Can I Prepare for it?Dennis YoderSomething about the word “audit” strikes fear in our hearts. Proper planning goes a long way in turning an audit into a helpful learning experience rather than a dreaded time of questioning. If your organization is considering an audit, or if you have questions about how to get more value out of your annual audit, bring your questions and join us as we walk through what a clean audit can feel like with proper preparation. The Power Of A Three-Fold CordDave YoderHow tough are you? Discover the freedom and power of a three-fold cord.Ways Conservative Anabaptists Are Using Social Media For Outreach & MinistryMatt Landis In this session we will tell some stories about ways conservative Anabaptists are currently using social media to reach a wider audience. We will look at ways they are being faithful to a Kingdom mindset and some ways that are not. We will review a combination of business and ministry examples to trigger creative thinking about ways we can be faithful while reaching out.

BREAKOUTS A Beliefs: From Claiming To OwningClifford SchrockIt is easy to hear ideas and claim them as truth with little personal thought. This approach to life tends to leave one with a collection of beliefs that are shallow, unfounded, and which are easily given up or held dogmatically. We will think about the process of moving from staking a claim to owning that claim, the process of developing well-developed, productive, personal beliefs.Building Confidence With Your Support BaseMelvin LehmanAt the center of the health of a non-profit organization are integrity and trustworthiness. Finances, public relations, and board strength are just a few areas that are tested on occasion in this arena. At the end of the day, every board and management team needs to know that no known breach of integrity exists between themselves, the people they serve, and the support-base that makes the ministry possible. This session explores the nuts and bolts of building confidence with the support-base in various ways. But What Can I Do?Earl PeacheyNo one has tapped me on the shoulder. I am too young, I am too old. I am not particularly gifted. I am stuck at home. I am only one small person in the light of the vast needs and great opportunities.Conducting Bible Studies With The UnchurchedErnest EbyMost people who join conservative Anabaptist churches are knowledgeable in the scriptures and familiar with Christianity. Would more unbelievers and unchurched people join our churches if we took the time to read and study with them? This session will address: Identifying people who are open to study, choosing a setting, navigating cultural differences, and teaching the Bible.Effectively Leading A TeamReuben PetersheimAs a team grows and new team members join it can be increasingly difficult to keep the team on the same page. How do you build trust on a team and effectively engage all team members? How do you pass on the goals and values of your organization to new team members? How do you introduce and implement new ideas?Graduation: Then What?Glendon StricklerYou are looking forward to graduation or graduation is still visible in the rear-view mirror. Business, helping at home, Bible School, voluntary service, teaching school, industry, adventure... what is your next step? Are you at the right spot now? How should you be preparing for the future? What is God’s role and what is your role? Come to explore these questions!Helping Without HarmingFrank ReedPeople are hurting. People need help. Are you someone who is called to bring help to the hurting? How can you do that? How can you do that without hurting those who are already hurting? We will consider practical ways to help those who hurt without creating more injury.

Life’s Two Most Important QuestionsMerle BurkholderThis session will look at finding answers to the two questions that Saul asked on the road to Damascus. “Who are you, Lord?” and “Lord, what do you want me to do?”. We will explore issues related to knowing God and finding God’s will for our lives.Maintaining An Organizational VisionClair SchnuppMy passion is maintaining organizational vision through planning, leading, organizing and evaluating.Meeting And Befriending MuslimsDaniel MillerAs the world becomes more interconnected, opportunities to meet and interact with Muslims are available to all of us. Yet feelings of fear and inadequacy sometimes keep us from taking advantage of those opportunities. This workshop will encourage you to actively pursue relationships with Muslims and give you practical tips for meeting and befriending them.People Are Going To Hell - Why Bother With Humanitarian Aid?Gary MillerJesus was very clear about values. The soul of just one man is of more value than the entire physical world. So why do we spend any time focusing on physical needs? Why bother handing out aid? And if we do decide to separate the temporal from the eternal, what is the long-term result of a mission focusing solely on either spiritual or physical need? This workshop will explore the importance of integrating the spiritual and the physical, and how this can be accomplished in our missions.Practical Suggestions For Making DisciplesAllen RothJesus said we should make disciples, but what is a disciple and how do we make disciples? How does one begin? With whom? These and other questions will be addressed in this session. Very practical suggestions will be given so you, right where you live, can carry out Jesus’ Great Commission to “make disciples”. You will also be informed of helpful resources available to you.Priorities In Ministry As A Wife, Mother & GrandmotherVerna Esh Sometimes family may feel second place when there are so many other needs and obligations. How can we involve our family while keeping our priorities in right order? Ladies only.Reevaluating Your MinistryPhil HershbergerWhat are the good, introspective, hard questions to ask ourselves as a ministry? How do we measure success and effectiveness? What is the culture of our ministry staff team? What are our biggest challenges/opportunities? Is there clarity around our mission to all members of the team, volunteers, and board? The Habits Of An Effective TeamGary MillerWe will explore the marks of cohesive teamwork. Nothing strains an organization more than when its leaders pull in different directions resulting in great frustration and frequent division. Yet, many boards and committees, administrators and managers, church leaders and laymen, as well as businessmen and parents experience organizational unity, peace, and growth. In this session, we purpose to identify the habits of successful teams with intention of personal application and implementation.

The Missionary Adapts To A Foreign CulturePhil YoderMissionaries enthusiastically embrace the romantic adventure of experiencing a foreign culture. But often they soon find themselves frustrated by an invisible wall that separates them from the people they desperately desire to communicate with. Frequently this wall has been unwittingly erected by the missionary himself. In this session we would like to suggest a few pointers that could help the foreign missionary, not only to adapt to the new culture, but to be accepted and loved by the people he relates to, and thereby becoming an effective communicator of the gospel. The Tragedy Of A Wasted LifeDave YoderLife is too short to discover that your ladder was leaning on the wrong wall. Is the American dream, financial security, or that new truck all that it is cracked up to be? What legacy will I treasure in eternity?Women Navigating Difficult RelationshipsIrene BontragerAt some point in their life, most people will find themselves in a difficult relationship. In this session, we will unmask possible causes of difficult relationships. We will then look at the values needed to interact well, understand how to be risk takers, and explore what accountability and commitment look like. Finally, we will talk through ways that God walks with us and gives us the courage to be vulnerable and forgiving people.

BREAKOUTS B Authority, Accountability, And ResponsibilityDarrell NislyAll authority is delegated, accountability is universally required, and the accomplishment of assignments is expected. Together we will investigate how these realities impact the function of a mission agency.Building Trust In Leadership TeamsNorm MillerHow do Christian ministry teams enhance their witness for Christ? Where does trust come from and how does it disappear? Most teams have leaders, but too many leaders are not trusted. Find out how to build trust in teams for the Lord’s sake.Communicating the Gospel with Clarity & PowerJ. Mark HorstWhy is there so much confusion today about what the Gospel is? Why does so much preaching/teaching seem to lack power? From the Scriptures we will examine the importance of preparing the messenger, and discover how to unleash the intrinsic power of the Gospel. Dignity And DepravityBrian MartinIs God really at work in our sin cursed world? Are there people who cannot be reached with the Gospel because they are too _______? This session will address these questions and also feature stories of how God has work in impossible situations.Fetal Alchohol Spectrum DisorderKathryn NislyFASD is a growing problem in the world today. As caregivers and people in ministry, it is important to recognize the symptoms of this disorder and to understand the limitations of individuals affected. Understanding increases your love and acceptance, and will enhance the success of your ministry.

Five Essential Traits Of Christian LeadershipGalen StutzmanEven secular people agree: effective leadership is essential for any organization or program to be successful. Is leadership a talent some people are blessed with and others are not? What makes leadership effective? What makes it Christian? We will explore five traits that are vital for becoming an effective builder in the Kingdom of God.I Can Tell Something’s Bothering YouTim StoltzfusWhat are the big issues our young people are facing? What questions are they grappling with? We will review the results from surveys filled out by hundreds of young people from our conservative Anabaptist churches, listing the major issues they identify and outlining a Biblical response.Lesson Components For TeachingDaryl WeaverThis workshop will explore visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles and the value of incorporating them in our teaching. This will be an interactive workshop where attenders will participate in activities designed to illustrate the different learning styles. Longevity In MissionLeonard Mast What are advantages of long-term ministry? What is the mentality needed to continue effectively? What is often behind great-sounding excuses to quit? What are causes of burnout? Should there be a difference between the Christianity of a Christian who is not involved in organized ministry and that of one who is?Moral Purity And MinistryTim WeaverWithout purity, our personal ministry will be powerless. Society’s morals are crumbling at unprecedented rates, and while we may be in ministry, we are not exempt from its impact. We are called to both live in (and have the reputation of) purity. In this session we will call attention to the realities of the corruption around us, discuss potential pitfalls that we may face, and learn the importance of implementing guardrails into our lives. Stay for the conclusion and you will learn about the single most important key whereby we can both obtain and maintain moral freedom!Reaching Muslims in the USAChris StoltzfusHow can we meet Muslims locally and share the way of Christ with them? Discover how God is bringing thousands of Muslims to the United States as refugees and how Anabaptists can be involved in sharing Christ with them. Seeking to Excel in ServiceHoward BeanWhy should we seek to excel (1 Corinthians 14:12)? How can youth excel in the local congregation in such areas of service as song leading, giving encouragement, committees, ushering, singing for the elderly, friendliness to strangers and teaching Sunday school? The best preparation for tomorrow is the right use of today. Why You Should Prepare To TeachGerald Miller What am I going to do with my life? Farm? Replace roofs? Be a missionary? No matter what vocation God calls us to, preparing to teach enables us to serve skillfully and effectively.

How are we called to engage? This Is Not The Life I Signed Up ForMarie MulletWhether we said, “I do,” signed a contract, committed to a responsibility, or accepted a position in ministry, we often find ourselves facing an entirely unforeseen and difficult situation. Life throws us a curve ball we were not expecting. Our hearts crumble. Our faith is tested. We have questions about who God is that we never thought would be our personal questions. What do we do in those seasons of our lives? Ladies only.Using Humanitarian Efforts To Foster Adult ConversionsDuane Eby*Description not available*What Can Asian Christians Teach Conservative Anabaptists?Raymond BurkholderAs conservative Anabaptists, we have been gifted a faith and practice that is an unspeakable treasure. But when it comes to dedication and commitment, reverence, hunger for the Word, prayer, faith and sacrifice for missions, Asian Christians can teach us abundantly. We tend to have so much and do so little while they have so little and do so much. When Can I Finally Do Great Things for God?Clayton ShenkMany times in youth, it seems like the older generation is unperceptive to any new ideas on how to minister. We will explore ways to remain under God given authorities, while still serving God with a clear conscience.

BREAKOUTS CAttitude & Heartbeat of a Successful VolunteerTim WeaverIn our anticipation of going into voluntary service, we all desire to serve, bless, contribute, and be the best that we can be. In this session we will consider the blessings of being called to service, as well as a number of principles that make this service an honorable experience. Areas that will be addressed will include; your first priority in ministry, expectations, teamwork principles, maintaining a serving spirit, and more. Join in our quest to embrace several key fundamentals that will equip you to honor God by maximizing the potential that He has placed in you!Becoming a Global ChristianAllen RothHow can we build a vision for worldwide missions in our churches, youth, children and grandchildren? Come prepared to carry away a pocket full of practical ideas!

Building Spiritual RelationshipsMerle BurkholderThis session will look at three important types of spiritual relationships. Mentors or coaches, peers or co-labourers, and followers or admirers. We will look at the nature of each of these types of relationships and how they can be built and used effectively.Business As MissionGary MillerHow does business fit the mandate to seek first the Kingdom of God and the Great Commission? How does a Kingdom purpose evaluate the legitimacy/purpose of products and the importance/ treatment of people. Where does the goal of financial profit fit into the Christian businessman’s vision? How can a Christian businessman be purposeful about his business benefiting the Christian community? What other purposes guide a Christian in business?Family As MinistryMelvin LehmanAn often asked question is: “How can I involve my family in the ministry that I have been called to”? While this is a good question, another that is at least of equal importance is: “How can my family have direct influence on the immediate community where we find ourselves”? Or: “What does family as a stand alone ministry look like”? This session focuses on the organic growth of ministry from family outward rather than the traditional well-oiled organizational based ministry that requires mega-bucks and too much of my time for the good of my family.Leading in Times Of Crisis (Lesvos, Greece)Emanuel Esh Strong teamwork is essential to fulfilling a vision in times of crisis. Rolling with the punches of fast-paced changes on the front lines demands flexibility and nimbleness!Lifetime Career In MinistryAmos EshSimilar to other careers more of our mission organizations could benefit by long term commitments of its workers. This workshop will look at the positives and negatives of career missionaries. Including such topics as:- The call- The task- Family considerations (third culture children)- Sustainability (relationships with co-workers, health, and aging)Maintaining Healthy Cross-GenderRelationships in MinistryJohn CoblentzMinistries draw people into close working relationships. It is common for a married man, for example, to work on the same staff as single ladies, and for single men and women from a variety of backgrounds to come together in the same ministry. We will explore characteristics of healthy cross-gender interaction as well as a number of traps to avoid.Ministry: Mastering Service While Serving the MasterCurt WagonerCan one effectively minister to others without first having a servant’s heart? Jesus spoke clearly about the need for those in His Kingdom to embrace virtues such as humility, childlikeness and servant-hood. But must every opportunity to minister be approached in this manner? Learn what the New Testament teaches us about the relationship between effective ministry and servant-hood and how the experiences of life validate these teachings.

Ministry Opportunities in Asia (and Anabaptist Obligations)Raymond BurkholderAsia is within the 10/40 window and this window represents 2/3 of the world’s population, 97% of the worlds least evangelized people, 85% of the world’s poor and is also the origin of Hinduism, Buddhism & Islam. These statistics in themselves speak volumes of Anabaptist obligations to minister in this area.Heritage: Owning Reality To Seize OpportunityKyle StoltzfusIt’s no secret. Every local church community has its problems. Every Christian movement, conservative Anabaptism included, has its blind spots and inconsistencies. It is easy to respond with helpless hand-wringing or reactionary criticism. But that leaves us powerless to seize the opportunites of the future. How do we take grateful ownership of what we have received - problems included - as the gift that it truly is?The Challenge Of Relationship In MinistryEldon Hochstetler• An open look at #1 cause for ministry burnout and attrition• A look at how ministry relationship is influenced by unresolved

pain issues • Caring for the hearts of ministry workers: freeing for

relationship and ministry• Role of abuse (physical, emotional, spiritual, sexual) in strained

relationshipThe Joy Of Husband And Wife RelationshipsClair & Clara SchnuppCreating and maintaining sparkle, spontaneity, and intimacy in marriage in a crazy world. The Middle East: A Place of PossibilitiesDaniel Miller While the news media coughs up endless cycles of tragic stories and violent scenes from the Middle East, there is another story that is less frequently heard. God is at work in the midst of the conflict, and His Kingdom is growing in this region. Maybe God is calling you to join Him in this important work. This session will encourage you to consider investing your time, your business, and your entire life in the Middle East. Understanding The TimesFrank ReedWhere are the children of Issachar who understand the times and know what Israel needs to do? Do those kinds of men exist today? Are you one of them? Where are the men of vision? Where there is no vision, the people perish. How can we understand the times in which we live? What should we do? The Bible is the plumb line. What Is That In Your Hand?Stephan GingerichThroughout history God has used faithful people to accomplish His will. The parable of the talents demonstrates the potential of each one of us in God’s kingdom. How many talents do you have? Have you doubled them? In this session you will hear stories of modern day disciples using their talents for the Master. You may be surprised to discover how many talents you hold in your hand.Women Reaching Women With The GospelCarolyn RothLadies, we have a treasure to share! Is there a friend or neighbor that you would like to be in Heaven with you? Southeast Asia is part of the 10/40 window that has some of the greatest needs for the Gospel and some of the biggest opportunities for impacting people groups who have yet to hear of the redeeming power of Jesus Christ.

There is a need for more couples and singles to join current teams and also form new teams in several countries.

Equipping Native Leaders to reach unreached people groups

Macedonian Teaching Ministry is a discipleship teaching ministry based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Our focus is making disciples of all nations as Jesus commanded in the great commission. MTM accomplishes

this by conducting pastoral teaching conferences by request of native Christian leaders in South East Asia. MTM averages 10-12 pastoral conferences each year with approximately 100 per conference.

For more information stop by and visit our display booth or visit:

www.rayburkholder.com

The ultimate goal and vision of MTM is to equip native leaders with the teaching that the Anabaptists have had for many generations.

P.E.A.C.E. Ministries, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic church fellowship, is located in the town of Hanover, PA; where the typical American lifestyle of addictions, teen pregnancies, juvenile delinquents, and broken homes is prevalent. Dealing with the local teens and children, low income families, drug addicts, and the spiritual warfare that we face can be draining at times, but the friendships that we build and impact that we leave can be life changing. Our main event of the week is our Tuesday evening Bible clubs. We have several Bible studies throughout the week and on Thursday afternoons we play games with the younger children. The rest of the week, we spend studying, just being there for the needs of the people and doing the everyday things that living requires. Contact Information: [email protected] 717-637-0939
