    News From The Streets…

COVID-19 Relationships By Mary Martha Primerano I spotted a homeless gentleman sitting alone and sat next to him to talk. I learned what his name was and asked him at some point, “If you could ask God for anything right now, what would you ask Him?” This gentleman responded, “Another opportunity” and began to cry. He allowed me to pray with him and shared with me the struggles he’s had that caused him to lose his family, that being his wife and children. I’m glad we were able to talk that morning where he would be fed, and re-minded that God loved him very much. Relationships are so important to God and they’re good for us as well. As I write this we are at the start of the Corona-virus shut down as I call it. I really have no idea what is ahead, but what I can say is what we are experiencing is unprecedent-ed. A biblical proportion was a term a friend used during a brief phone call today. Yes, a phone call. Not a text message, but a real live chat with a friend. It’s time now to minister to those closest to us—our families and friendships! Relationships are so important and it’s becoming more and more challenging to connect with each other already without introducing a Pandemic scare. Pandemic, Social Distancing, COVID-19, elbow bumps: these are a few terms that have been introduced or reintroduced to us recently. I’ve heard from spiritual leaders asking us to pray Psalm 91 over this country and really over the world now. I believe we should also take these opportunities to connect with family and those close to you as well. Mother Teresa reminds us to, “Do small things with great love”. Have you told someone you love them today? It feels good to love and of course to be loved. Next time you want to “text” someone – call them instead. They’ll feel loved. Take the empty garbage cans back into the garage. They’ll feel loved. Call your elderly family member or neighbor and see how they are doing. They’ll feel loved. Stop and smile at that same homeless man you see every day as you make your way into the high-rise you work in. He’ll feel loved. Matthew 20:28 tells us, “Just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”. If interested in volunteering please contact:

    YO SOY LA RESURRECCIÓN

    Y LA VIDA

San Juan 11,3-7.17.20-27.33b-45.
