Eco-Friendly Resolutions Happy New Year! It’s 2020 and the BIGGEST resolutions to consider right now are ones that help the planet. Here’s 4 Eco-Friendly Resolutions for the New Year: 1. Say “No” to Plastic Straws: Over 500 million plastic straws are used in the U.S. each day and are usually dropped into a garbage can without further thought. Politely requesting “no straw, please” whenever ordering a drink, or opting to use a reusable straw made from stainless steel or silicon will help prevent these short- lived tools from ending up in our oceans and landfills. 2. Always Bring a Reusable Water Bottle: Using reusable water bottles helps the environment by using fewer resources, emitting less harmful gas, and protecting water resources and the creatures who live underwater. Make it a habit to ‘grab-and -go’ daily with your reusable water bottle everywhere you go. 3. Don’t Trash, Donate! Before you toss out old or unwanted items, consider donating them to a local nonprofit or charity. This prevents usable items such as furniture and clothing from ending up in the landfill and gives them a chance at second life. You’ve heard the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” 4. Buy Local & Organic (When You Can): When you buy “organic,” you’re buying from farms committed to environmentally friendly agricultural methods. However, when organic food travels long distances to market, also known as food miles, it creates pollution that sometimes outweighs the positive effects of organic farming. Buying food that’s grown locally not only reduces environmental costs associated with food miles, but it also allows you to help your community's economy. FOLLOW V.V.S. Eco-Friendly Resolutions Happy New Year! It’s 2020 and the BIGGEST resolutions to consider

right now are ones that help the planet.

Here’s 4 Eco-Friendly Resolutions for the New Year:

1. Say “No” to Plastic Straws: Over 500 million plastic straws are used in the

Politely requesting “no straw, please” whenever ordering a drink, or opting to use a

donating them to a local nonprofit or charity. This prevents usable items such as

furniture and clothing from ending up in the landfill and gives them a chance at

second life. You’ve heard the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

with food miles, but it also allows you to help your community's economy.

vaya diariamente.
