PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

TA Instruments, New Castle, DE 2011 to Present PRODUCT MANAGER – ThermoGravimetric Product Portfolio Lead 10 person engineering team in the development of 3 separate products within the thermogravimetric portfolio (SDT, TGA, & SA) with annual sales revenue of $40M. Manage a $1.5M annual budget, develop and orchestrate multiple concurrent development efforts. Work closely with Marketing, Manufacturing, and Service stakeholders to ensure products meet technical and business objectives.

Led team responsible for multi-instrument platform redesign effort resulting in a 40% reduction in COGS Spearheaded effort to reduce development timelines

o Sought out, identified, evaluated and developed strategic partnership with National Instruments’ Alliance partner (Data Science Automation) to provide contract engineering services which demonstrated Proof-of Concept in <5 months with an NRE of $270K (in contrast to 18 months and $1.5M with alternative approach)

o Reduced expensed SW effort by 66% ($650K) and total SW effort by 27% ($400K) o Reduced total time to market from 3yrs to 1.5yrs saving >$2.75M of NRE and securing ~$5M of revenue

Planned and presented Expense/Capitalization strategies to executive management enabling optimal use of resources while improving P&L position

Built coalition of stakeholders (Engineering, Marketing, Service, and Manufacturing) to inform and influence Executive Management to support innovative development approach utilizing National Instruments Off-The-Shelf componentry and LabVIEW development environment

KMC Systems, Merrimack, NH 2005 to 2011 PROGRAM MANAGER Full responsibility for development programs including building and managing engineering teams to develop medical devices. Reported schedule and budget status to executive leadership. Tracked schedule progress, and budget, while defining and managing technical and programmatic risks.

Secured $9.3M program with GE Healthcare for the development of a novel MRI image-enhancing platform. Coordinated efforts with medical disposable development partner to address high-risk development challenges prior to starting full-fledged development effort. Organized path to locate and identify engineering sub-contractor for high risk development effort for non-invasive optically-based QC sub-assembly of instrument.

Led a $3.6M development program for a cord blood processing system. Coordinated internal 8-member engineering team, TX-based medical disposable partner, and the client’s NY-based research scientists.

o Successfully delivered prototype systems on schedule despite numerous client-driven delays and significant scope change.

o Increased profit verse proposal baseline on fix-price budget through effective redistribution of resources

Collaborated with client to recover critically mismanaged development effort for a CD4 (HIV) point-of-care diagnostic device. Program required the coordination of internal engineering resources, an optical subsystem development partner in Germany, a software development house in New Jersey, a medical disposable developer in Colorado, and the client’s assay development team at the University of Texas.

o Results of clinical evaluation enabled client to secure $20M in VC funding for next round of development.

Drove $700K engineering and manufacturing program in the development, manufacturing, and testing of novel blood processing device for the de-lipidation of blood and systemic reduction of arterial sclerosis.

o Delivered instruments on-schedule enabling client to execute human clinical trials.

Lumenis (Formerly Coherent Star), Santa Clara, CA 2000 to 2005 ENGINEERING PROGRAM MANAGER – FIBER OPTICS APPLICATIONS (2003 to 2005) Promoted with full development responsibility for a disposable fiber optic delivery device including developing detailed project schedules, setting milestones, allocating resources, developing risk management strategies, conducting cost analysis, and performing supply chain management. Reported to the VP of Global R&D. Managed $250K budget with 3yr forecasted revenues of $4M.

Collaborated with the client-Boston Scientific, raw material suppliers, testing house-NAMSA, and regulatory agencies to minimize development risks, maintain schedules, reduce costs, and meet production goals.

Organized all DHF documentation, design specifications, FMECA’s, biocompatibility testing, sterilization validation, DFU’s and package labeling, functional testing, and evaluation.

Authored a white paper on the use of holmium lasers in support of the marketing campaign.

SOFTWARE and PROJECT MANAGER - SYSTEMS ENGINEER (2000 to 2003) Managed four cross-functional teams of Engineers, Technicians and Consultants in Software Development, SW/HW interfacing, and system integration for diode laser and UV light-source Class II medical devices. Reported to Director of Engineering.

Rescued critically missed managed project, reduced time-to-market by 60%, and recovered $3M in revenue.

Delivered four products to market: LightSheer™, BClear™, ReLume™, and LumenisOne™ hair removal laser system.

Selected as the Clinical Liaison for the leading European aesthetic research clinician, Dr. Christine Dierickx during European human clinical trials of 400ms LightSheer™ Diode Laser System.
