KEOKI JACKSON, SCD, CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICERLOCKHEED MARTIN CORPORATION

As CTO, Jackson is responsible for overseeing Lockheed's advanced technology strategy and the maturation of future innovations. He is also responsible for managing the corporation's research and development relationships with colleges and universities, industry and international partners, and the U.S. government's science and technology community. Jackson was most recently vice president for Program Excellence where he led the cross-functional integration of the Lockheed's five councils for engineering and technology, production, program management, supply chain, and sustainment.

Jackson joined Lockheed Martin in 1997 and has held a number of leadership roles of increasing responsibility in program management and advanced technology development. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Jackson was a NASA graduate research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and a ScD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT. Jackson is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

MICHAEL TUSHMAN, PHD, PROFESSOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATIONHARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL

Professor Tushman is internationally recognized for his work on the relations between technological change, executive leadership and organization adaptation. His work centers on the role of senior teams in building organizations that host incremental as well as discontinuous innovation as well as leading those organizational changes associated with innovation streams. His work on ambidextrous organizational designs focuses on organizational and senior team characteristics that enable firms to exploit current capabilities, as well as explore new spaces. He is working on the impact of distributed innovation on incumbent firms and the role of organizational identity in shaping a firm’s ability to handle paradoxical strategic requirements.

Michael Tushman holds degrees from Northeastern University (BSEE), Cornell University (MS), and the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T. (PhD). Tushman was on

the faculty of the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University, from 1976 to 1998 where he was the Phillip Hettleman Professor of Business from 1989 to 1998. He has also been a visiting professor at MIT (1982, 1996) and INSEAD (1995-1998, 2011).

Tushman is the recipient of numerous awards and has published many articles and books including Lead and Disrupt: How to Solve the Innovator’s Dilemma (with C. O’Reilly), Stanford University Press, 2016; Winning Through Innovation: A Practical Guide to Leading Organizational Renewal and Change (with C. O’Reilly), Harvard Business School Press, 1997; Leading Sustainable Change (with R. Henderson and R. Gulati), Oxford University Press, 2015.

JOI ITO, DIRECTORMIT MEDIA LAB

Joichi “Joi” Ito has been recognized for his work as an activist, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and

advocate of emergent democracy, privacy, and Internet freedom. As director of the MIT Media Lab, he is currently exploring how radical new approaches to science and technology can transform society in substantial and positive ways. Soon after coming to MIT, Ito introduced mindfulness meditation training to the Media Lab.

Ito has served as both board chair and CEO of Creative Commons, and sits on the boards of Sony Corporation, Knight Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and The New York Times Company. In Japan, he is executive researcher of KEIO SFC, and he was a founder of Digital Garage, and helped establish and later became CEO of the country’s first commercial Internet service provider. He was an early investor in numerous companies, including Flickr, Six Apart, Last.fm, littleBits, Formlabs, Kickstarter, and Twitter.

Ito’s honors include TIME magazine’s “Cyber-Elite” listing in 1997 and selection as one of the “Global Leaders for Tomorrow” by the World Economic Forum (2001). In 2008, BusinessWeek named him one of the “25 Most Influential People on the Web.” In 2011, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oxford Internet Institute. In 2014, he was inducted into the SXSW Interactive Hall of Fame; also in 2014, he was one of the recipients of the Golden Plate award from the Academy of Achievement.

HENRY CHESBROUGH, PHDADJUNCT PROFESSOR, FACULTY DIRECTOR, GARWOOD CENTER FOR CORPORATE INNOVATION, UC BERKELEY

Henry Chesbrough is Faculty Director of the Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.Previously, he was an assistant professor of business administration, and the Class of 1961 Fellow at the Harvard Business School. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of California-Berkeley, an MBA from Stanford University, and a BA from Yale University, summa cum laude.His research focuses on managing technology and innovation. His book, Open Innovation (2003), articulates a new paradigm for organizing and managing R&D. His second book, Open Business Models (2006), extends his analysis of innovation to business models, intellectual property management, and markets for innovation. His third book, Open Services Innovation (2011), explores open innovation in services businesses. He has published two academic review volumes with Oxford University Press, including New Frontiers in Open Innovation, (2014).His academic work has been published in Harvard Business Review, California Management Review, Sloan Management Review, Research Policy, Industrial and Corporate Change, Research-Technology Management, Business History Review, and the Journal of Evolutionary Economics.Prior to embarking on an academic career, he spent ten years in various product planning and strategic marketing positions in Silicon Valley companies. He worked for seven of those years at Quantum Corporation, a leading hard disk drive manufacturer and a Fortune 500 company. Previously, he worked at Bain and Company.
