Known by her friends and colleagues as “The Safety Lady,” Cynthia Holm brings to RCC over 30 years of safety experience, a unique training style, and a passion for safety, quality, and compliance that make her courses memorable and fun. Her experience ranges from aircraft maintenance to manufacturing, childcare to healthcare. She is an Occupational Safety and Health Administration authorized trainer for general industry and a credentialed technical education instructor with a specialization in Energy, Environment & Resource Management and Hazardous Materials Occupations.

Cynthia currently works as the Providence Medford Medical Center Safety Manager and owns her own business, EHS Maven. Her education includes a MA in Vocational Education, a BS of Industrial Technology and an AS of Aircraft Systems. Her work in safety began while serving in the Unites States

Air Force (USAF) and only because she told her Seargent, “she couldn’t type”! To learn more about that story and other safety/life changing tips, enroll in one of her upcoming courses this winter.

DRIVER EDUCATION

This Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) approved traffic safety course consists of one two-hour mandatory parent/student program information and scheduling meeting, thirty hours of classroom instruction, twelve hours in the car for six hours of behind the wheel instruction, and six hours of observation.

Driver training is a comprehensive training program committed to effectively developing low-risk behavioral patterns and preparing young drivers to be safe operators in today’s complex driving environment. The goal is to eliminate preventable crashes and give young drivers the skills needed to survive. Course meets Oregon requirements for high school driver education.

Students who have an IEP or 504 plan in high school may qualify for academic accommodations through RCC Disability Services. If you would like to request accommodation, please schedule an appointment with Disability Services and provide a copy of the student’s IEP or documentation from a professional qualified to diagnose the students specific disability.

Mandatory Parent/Student Driver Training program information and scheduling meeting:Parents and students are required to attend this 2-hour information and scheduling session where state law and course requirements are discussed. Students will partner with classmates and sign up for their behind the wheel driving appointments. Drive times do not coincide with classroom dates and times and drives will extend past the last scheduled classroom date.

Driver Education Program (Ages 15-17 with OR Permit)Students must be under 18 years of age and have a valid Oregon DMV Instruction Permit throughout the entire program. Otherwise, students are to enroll for Driver Training for Young Adults. Drive times do not coincide with classroom dates and times. The Oregon DMV will waive the Drive Test for all 15-17-year-old teen students who successfully complete this ODOT approved Driver Education course.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) ProviderInstructor: Steven BoyersmithAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is training for those working in medical professions. Participants must have current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Card, as well as an understanding of ECG interpretation and emergency cardiac pharmacology. Upon completion of course, students earn AHA ACLS Provider certification card (included in tuition). AHA ACLS manual is required for this course. Registration is ongoing through the term for noncredit, Continuing Education classes. Be aware that many classes fill quickly, so register early! Full payment is due at the time of registration and cannot be refunded once registration is completed. If RCC cancels a class for any reason, all paid fees will be refunded.
