COMPANY PROFILE

� Mother Dairy is one of the largest liquid milk plants in Asia.

� It started its operations in 1974 under the Operation Flood Programme of the National

Dairy Development Board under the guidance of  Dr. Varghese KurienChairperson

NDDB(1969).

� First Dairy in the country to implement ISO-14031 (Environment Performance

evaluation) project.� Mother dairy sources its requirement of liquid milk from dairy co- operatives & producer 

institutions.

� Presently, Mother Dairy sells more than 28 lakh liters of milk per day, out of which

approximately 9 lakh liters of milk is sold as bulk vended milk & another 19 lakh liters

of milk is sold in saches in five different variants across 6 states.

� In 1994 ,Mother Dairy started diversifying by marketing ice-cream through its milk shops, fruit & vegetable shops, select retail outlets & pushcarts.

� Mother Dairy has also launched other dairy products like Flavoured milk, Dahi,Lassi,

Misthi doi, Ghee, Butter, Cheese, Dairy Whitener, etc. & many more are in offing.

FINDINGS

It was found that majority of thesample size 59.4% were of the

opinion that performanceappraisal gives proper feed back

about their job.

It was found that majority of thesample size 79.92% were of the

opinion that performanceappraisal report constitutesimportant factor on which

selecting employee training anddevelopment programme.

It was found that majority of thesample size 70% were of theopinion that they feel proud on

for working with the M.D.

1) increase employee motivation and productivity,

2) provide a solid asis for age and salary administration,

3) facilitate discussions concerning employee gro th and development,

4) provide data for human resource decisions and

5) provide managers ith a useful communication tool for employee goal setting andperformance planning. The merits of the formal appraisal process are numerous and attractive toany organization considering their use.
