General Reactions
Ionic Bonds intend to activate the reaction very fast especially in the naturalizing of chemicals, In the other hand Covalent bonds reactions take far more time to occur then Ionic bonds
Ionic bonds reaction: takes almost from nanoseconds to a couple of minutes
Covalent bonds reaction: takes almost from weeks to a couple of centuries
Reactants
For a reaction to happen the reactants must meet first, the reactants are the substances and chemicals that involve in the reaction
The reactants need to meet with each other in order for the reaction to happen, this is called collision, the more reactant concentration the more collision happens. If there is a lot of collision the reaction happens very quickly
The fastest state in which reaction happens the quickest is in the form of gas, then liquid and lastly the slowest, solid
Temperature affect on Reaction
Temperature of the reaction has a major impact on the results of the reaction, for instance if you had a random acid mixed with a random piece of metal you would reach a time where the reaction have finished, if you increased the temp of the acid the reaction of the acid with the metal would increase rapidly
The greater the temperature the faster the reaction would happen and the lower the temperature the slower the reaction would happen
Colliding
Collide means hit with force when moving
Colliding boundary also means when 2 tectonic plates meet
Colliding is when molecules bump in together. While molecules bump they either share, give away, or gain.
If you give these molecules more heat, which means that you are giving them more kinetic energy, and the more kinetic energy they have the more and faster they move so the more they collide.
Corrosion
Corrode means brake or damage, a metal, stone, or any other material, slowly by a chemical action
Corrosion is a chemical reaction in which molecules break down due to a chemical reaction with it's surroundings.
A daily example of corrosion that we may see everyday is the rusting of iron from moisture
Catalyst
A substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change.
Catalyst may also take place in variables, for example they may increase time and temperature in experiments.
For example Potassium Chlorate is a slow process, but when you add manganese dioxide to it it will increase the reaction.
Another example is when you have a piece of iron, and hydrogen and nitrogen sits on it, the iron will increase the reaction of the nitrogen and hydrogen, until they react properly and get together to form a different molecule or chemical.
