One of the biggest challenges of our times is that of lack of ethical leadership. Through the Responsible Citizenship and Leadership Programme we intend to equip the common citizens of the country with the necessary skills to participate actively in civic affairs and proliferate ethical leadership among the common citizens.

This programme is suitable for citizens of every adult age group, who are eager to contribute to nation building, but are not initiated into the field due to various causes including lack of knowledge, direction, confidence, a proper platform to contribute, etc. Responsible Citizenship & Leadeship Programme is an introductory session for the general public. Full-blown modules with hands-on experience are

intended for select citizens committed to take initiative and provide leadership in nation building.

The contents of the 1-day course will include training on following topics, which will be imparted effectively through knowledge sharing sessions, discussions, sharing of first hand practical experience by real-life civic activists, audio-visual aids, guided reading, activities, hands-on application in the field, etc.

� Fundamentals of Human Life

� Indian Polity / administration system: Constitution of India, Union & State Ministries & Departments, Functioning of Legislature, Executive and Judiciary.

� Common Laws: Indian Penal Code (IPC), Civil Procedure Code (CPC), Police Act, etc.

� Local Self Governance System & Institutions: 3-tier system, 73rd & 74th Constitutional Amendments, Panchayat Raj, Zilla & Taluk Panchayats, Municipalities, Town & Country Planning, Urban Development Authorities, etc.

� Transparency, Accountability and Anti-Corruption Tools: RTI, Lokayukta, Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), e-Governance, Karnataka Guarantee of Services Act (Sakaal), Consumer Protection Act, Ombudsman / Regulatory Authorities (TRAI, CERC, IRDC, etc), CBI, Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), etc.

� Development Schemes: NREGA, MPLADS, MLAs Local Area Development Scheme (KLLADS), JNNRUM, Nirmal Nagar, etc.
