ACTION AGAINST ESCALATING
SEWER
BILLS The 2013 Jefferson County bankruptcy exit plan is being challenged by sew-
er ratepayers who say it violates their constitutional rights.
Federal Judge Sharon Blackburn has ruled that the ratepayers of Jefferson County, Alabama have the right to have their law-suit heard in her court, but the Jefferson County Commission disagrees. The Com-mission is using tax payer money to appeal Judge Blackburn’s decision to the 11th Cir-cuit in Atlanta.
The purpose of the petition is to demand that the Jefferson County Commission drop their frivolous and expensive appeal of the sewer rate payer’s lawsuit and allow the citizens of Jefferson County their day in court.
