Challenge

• With innovation and creativity change a bad idea into a greatone.

Disclaimer

• The “worst idea” that was assigned to our team touches on avery delicate subject of equality between women and men onthe one side and respect for local cultures on the other.

• We’ve done our best to understand the complexities of thetopic, but we are not from the region.

• We, in no way, subscribe to the positions of segregation thatwill be exposed.

Product

• For Saudi Arabian women 18 and older and theirbrothers, fathers, husbands and families who wantthese women to be able to drive without beingstopped by police and pedestrians, and do not wantto continue paying for taxis and chauffeurs, theRaqami Wali (Digital Guardian) is a Camera and 3Genabled GPS tracker that lets the "guardian" of awoman be able to receive real time location, audioand images from the cabin of the car, this way beingable to provide protection and at the same timeensure their "purity" making sure they do not incur ininappropriate behaviors.

Target

• Fathers, Husbands and Brothers of Saudi Arabian women above 18 who own a car.

• Fathers and Brothers of female students 18 and over.

• Families who own cars and have female members 18 and over and have to spend money on a private chauffeur or taxis.

Raqami Wali (Digital Guardian)

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia

“I believe strongly in the rights of women. […] in the rural areas, you will

find that women do drive. The issue will require patience. In time I believe

that it will be possible.”

Saudi Scholars: “Haram!”

“They have to uncover their face to drive”

“They will go out more often”

“It will lead to the erosion of traditionalvalues, such as segregation”

“A woman should be with her father, brotheror guardian when away from home”

“The guardian should ensure the purity of the woman for which he is a steward”

But wait!

• Gender segregation customs are violated when women areforced to take a taxi!

• Your family may be wasting 30% of their income on taxis forfemale members

• In a survey conducted by Women2Drive, an organization thatpromotes Saudi women rights, 82% of 1239 respondentswould like to have their driver’s license

• Male private drivers are a frequent source of sexualharassment

• How can you work and be productive if you are alwaysrequired to drive the women of your family around?

• How can we overcome this stalemate?
