Rapture Theory

• “Dispensationalism” – History divided into 7 eras (based on creation week); the 7th era being a utopian 1000-year reign of Christ on earth.

• “Premillennialism” – False theories about the return of Christ & a future earthly kingdom: rapture, tribulation, antichrist, Man of Sin, battle of Armageddon.

• “Rapture” is not used in Scripture.

– Misuse of Scripture: 1 Thess 4:16-17

– Paul’s purpose: 1 Thess 4:13-15

• Only (1) resurrection from the dead.

– 1 Cor 15:51-52; 1 Cor 15:22-24; Acts 24:14-15; John 5:28-29; 6:39-40

• Only (1) reappearance of Christ.

– Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thess 4:17; Heb 9:26-28

• The righteous & wicked live together until the “last day”.

– Matt 13:37-43; Matt 13:47-50; 2 Thess 1:7-10; John 12:48; Acts 17:30-31
