Are you an introvert?Take this quiz to nd out where you fall on the introvert-extrovert

spectrum. Answer each question True or False, choosing the answer

that applies to you more often than not.

The more often you answered True, the more introverted you are. f you found yourself with a roughly equal number of True and False answers, then

you may be an ambivertyes, there really is such a word. Note: This is an informal quiz, excerpted from Quiet, based on characteristics of introversion

commonly accepted by contemporary researchers. For more info on Quiet see page 2.

Most of the choices we make each day may feel

like the products of well-considered decision

making, buttheyre not. Theyre habits. One paper pub-

lished by a Duke University researcher in 2006 found

that more than 40 percent of the actions people per-formed each day werent actual decisions, but habits.

And though each habit has relatively little impact on its

own, over time, the meals we order, what we say to

our kids each night, whether we save or spend, how

often we exercise and so on: they all have enormous

inuence on our health, productivity, nancial security

    and happiness.

Think about when you woke up this morning. What did

you do rst? Did you hop in the shower, check your

email or grab a donut from the kitchen counter? Did

you brush your teeth before or after you toweled off?Which route did you drive to work? alad or hamburger

for lunc h? When you got home, did you put on your

sneakers and go for a run, orpour yourself a drink and

eat dinner in front of the TV?

All of those decisions werent really choices at all.

    They were habits.
