Title Making A Solar Cooker

Objectives By the end of the activity, the pupils will be able to:

1. use sequence connectors for the steps in making a solar cooker.

2. make a solar cooker by following the given instructions.

Activities

1. Teacher introduces the topic and activity for the day.

2. Teacher explains the steps in making a solar cooker and emphasizes

the use of sequence connectors.

3. Pupils complete the worksheet given by the teacher

4. A group leader is selected from each goup and he/she takes the

materials needed according to the list given by the teacher.

5. One hour is given to the pupils to make the solar cooker with the

guidance from the teacher.

6. After all the groups had done their project, each group will do a short

presentation.

7. Teacher and the pupils from other groups evaluate the presentation.

REFLECTIONS

SOLAR COOKERThis solar cooker provides free energy for cooking.

It uses the greenhouse effects- the black papers absorb the heat from the sun; the foil reflects the sun

ray; the glass traps the heat

It also reduces deforestation, lowers cost of energy and reduces household CO2 emissions.

Steps To Make A Solar Cooker

Firstly, prepare all

the materials

according to the

list given.

Secondly, prepare the small-sized box.

- cover the outer part of the box with black sugar papers

- place a black cardboard inside the box

- cover the inner sides of the box with aluminium foil.

- make 4 small holes on the 2 opposite side of the box to insert the wires.

Thirdly, prepare the medium-sized box.

- cover the outer part of the box with black sugar papers.

- cover the inner part of the box with aluminium foil.

Then, prepare the window for sunlight to enter into the box.

- make a square of glass or using acrylic cover.

Next, put the small-sized box into the medium-sized box.

Finally, the solar cooker is ready to be used.
