Future work will include the surface coating of nanostars and functionalizing with DNA recognition elements to develop RNA biosensors. Manuscript out for review on nanoparticle synthesis for biological applications.

Publications and Presentations Manuscript titled “Investigating Plasmon Reproducibility in Surfactant Free Gold Nanostar Synthesis” soon to be published in the New Journal of Chemistry. “Raman Scattering in Plasmonic Gold Nanoparticles for Biosensing and Diagnostics”, 1 hour presentation given in CH 521 Course. Literature Review of Biosensing in Gold Nanoparticles. 11/19/2014. “Breast Cancer: The Future and Present State of Diagnostics”, 20 minute presentation given in CH 524 Course. Comparison of current diagnostic methods and potential methods to replace them. 6/2/2015.

Work Experience Polaris Battery Labs, Beaverton, Oregon June 2014-August 2014 Process Engineer

Worked to execute and optimize processes in battery cell assembly and testing. Assembled battery test cells and analyzed cell performance. Helped design studies to evaluate cell performance based on cathode and anode variation. Vast experience in shop work including work with plastics and metals. Designed test fixtures for batteries to evaluate performance. Collected, analyzed, and organized large sets of data as well as optimized performance data acquisition systems. Gained extensive knowledge and experience in materials/redox chemistry for analyzing problems and in theoretical applications.

Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon Sept. 2013-Present Resident Assistant

Worked to develop an inclusive community that values diversity and learning from the experiences of others. As a member of the Committee for Academic Success and Engagement I assisted in developing campus-wide academic programming in stress management and other educational opportunities. Murrayhill Recreation Association, Beaverton, Oregon Summer 2013 Head Swim Team Coach

Managed all swim team (90-100 kids, ages 6-16) activities including coaching, managing assistant coaching staff, scheduling meets, and coordinating parent volunteers as well as administrative tasks. Increased program participation by 40% in my time as a coach through dedication and commitment to improving the experience.

Summers 2012-2013 Head Guard and Supervisor In charge of facilities and on-duty staff during operational hours. Trained new lifeguards to perform their duties in accordance with established standard operating procedures. Positively resolved conflicts between patrons. Worked as part of management team to develop and implement new operating procedures for the facilities.

Summers 2011-2013 Instructor and Swim Team Coach Worked with younger kids and computer software such as Microsoft Excel to organize swim meets and manage data entry systems. Developed a well-organized set of standard operations for running swim meets resulting in high levels of efficiency. Conducted multi-child and private swim lessons including children of all ages and abilities.

Summers 2009-2011 Lifeguard

Performed superior lifeguarding duties while providing excellent customer service. Completed regular facility maintenance: cleaning, gardening, and pool water and pump maintenance.

Leadership Experience 2015-Present Ultimate Frisbee Club President and Team Captain, Oregon State University. Vice President and Team Member 2012-Present. Manage

a large team and coordinate all activities with the campus recreational sports programming department. Plan and coordinate all activities required to host large tournaments requiring months of planning to ensure a positive experience for all participating teams. Work with young players to grow and develop skills both on and off the field. Manage large budget (5,000-10,000 dollars) for team competitions, travel, and other expenses. As a captain I work to develop team cohesiveness and strategy. Demonstrated the ability to think quickly and effectively under pressure while on the field playing.
