Enroute MUNNESHWARAM TEMPLE / MANAWARI TEMPLE at Chilaw Arrival at Sri Lanka and transfer to Dambulla/Sigiriya (200 kms - 5 hours). En-route visit Munneshwaram Temple at Chilaw. Also visit Manawari Temple where Shiva asked Lord Rama to install the first lingam, near the banks of Deduru Oya river, about 5 Km from Munneshwaram. Munneshwaram means the first temple for Shiva (Munnu + Easwaran). Overnight stay at Dambulla/Sigiriya. Day 2 # Full day excursion to Trincomalee. Visit KONESHWARAM / SHANKARI DEVI TEMPLE (SHAKTHI PEETHAM) After breakfast proceed for the sightseeing of Trincomalee which is now one of Sri Lanka’s most pristine tourist destinations, with Buddhist and Hindu Temples set alongside churches and mosques. Day 3 # Visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Travel to Kandy Enroute Dambulla Golden Rock Cave After breakfast visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Sigiriya is a “UNESCO World Heritage Site” and the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky”. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the Palace on the summit of the 600-foot high rock (1200 steps). Then proceed to Kandy (90 kms 3 hours) Enroute visit Dambulla Golden Cave Temple is a World Heritage Site (1991). After then, travel to Kandy (1600 ft asl) via Matale. (Approximately 90 Kms 3 hours). En route visit spice garden & Batik factory at Matale. Kandy is a lakeside town and the most visited destination in Sri Lanka, visited for its Tooth of Relic temple, which is also a world heritage site. Today Kandy is the center of Buddhism, Arts, Crafts, Dancing, Music and Culture. Visitors can see these Dance & Music at the daily Cultural Performances held. Overnight stay at Kandy. Day 4 # Travel to Nuwara Eliya. Enroute Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple - Evening sightseeing. After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya (5000 ft asl 75 kms 2.5 hours). Visit a tea factory en-route to see how the world's favorite drink is prepared and also visit Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple at Ramboda. Evening sightseeing in Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya - The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. Visit Ramayana sites around Nuwara Eliya - Bandarawela & Ella. Sitha Amman Temple: The prominent temple architecture will not fail to attract your attention. Ancient statues of Rama and Sita can be seen on one side of the temple. The temple today is a modern building with its paintings, statues and pillars decorated with sculptures; all depicting the tale of Rama and Sita. Hakgala Botanical Gardens: This is the exotic pleasure garden where King Ravana kept the depressed Sita, insisting that she marries him. It was here where the heartwarming meeting took place between her and Hanuman, who brought her Rama’s ring with the news that Rama was looking for her. He offered to carry her back but she refused saying it would be an insult to Rama’s honor if she did so. Part of this majestic garden still exists. It is also said that Hanuman nearly destroyed it in order to prove to Ravana of the forces against him. Divurumpola Temple: This is the place where Seetha Devi underwent "Agni Pariksha" (test). locals in this area. Divurumpola means place of oath in Sinhala. The legal system permits and accepts the swearing done at this temple while settling disputes between parties. Ella: Ella is a small mountain village near Bandarawela and boasts three locations linked to the Ramayana where local legend claims Ravana was hiding Sita. First there is the Ravana Ella Cave, located at the massive Ella Falls; a breathtaking 1080 feet high waterfall that cascades into several falls. The rocky undergoes of the waterfall is Khondalite, a kind of limestone which undergoes faster decay as hard gneiss or granite. This has resulted in many caves being formed near the falls. King Ravana is said to have lived in one of the caves above the waterfall. A nearby pool bored out of the rock by the gushing waters is where Sita is said to have bathed Ravana.

Day 6 # Travel to Kataragama. Enroute visit Ravana Water Falls. Evening visit to Kataragama Hindu Temple. After breakfast drive to Kataragama (150 kms – 5 hours) via Ravana water Falls. Check in at the hotel. In the early evening visit the Kataragama Hindu Temple. Kataragama accommodates the most important Temple of our island, the Kataragama Hindu Temple. The shrine stands among woodland on the banks of a holy river, the Manik Ganga (river of jewels), surrounded by seven low, conical hills. Overnight stay in Kataragama.

Day 7 # Travel to Colombo. Enroute visit Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple & Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple Proceed to Colombo enroute Visiting Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple, Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple suburb of Colombo city. Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple is dedicated to Lord Vibhishana who was the younger brother of Ravana but during the legendary war on Lanka a supporter of Lord Rama, because he disapproved of Ravana's abduction of Sita. After Ravana's death Rama appointed Vibhishana as the new King of Lanka. Overnight stay at Colombo.

Day 8 # Colombo Sightseeing and exploration. After breakfast drive to Colombo and enjoy city tour of Colombo including shopping. Colombo a drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. Overnight stay in Colombo.

Day 9 # Colombo shopping exploration before Departure After breakfast explore Colombo areas for shopping until departure for onward journey.
