FACT: Ram with Cummins® is a proven, highly integrated engine and emissions solution. Ram Heavy Duty Pickups come equipped with a system that automatically regulates diesel emissions according to federal standards. The engine utilizes several components to help reduce harmful airborne pollutants including:

• An integrated Exhaust Gas Recirculation system (EGR) that recirculates exhaust gases, reducing the formation of oxides of nitrogen (NOx).

• A Closed Coupled Catalyst that is mounted at the turbocharger outlet to warm up quickly and help the exhaust after-treatment system function more efficiently.

• A NOx Adsorber Catalyst (NAC) converts oxides of nitrogen into harmless inert gases for release into the atmosphere. The NOx Adsorber Catalyst performs the same task as the DEF system seen in other trucks but there is no DEF tank to fill.

• A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) filters the particulates, or soot, out of the exhaust gas. The collected soot is oxidized automatically, regenerating the DPF so it can keep doing its job of cleaning the exhaust gas.
