THE OPPORTUNITY North Carolina State University (NC State) invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Director for Auxiliary Services in the Division of Campus Enterprises. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Enterprises, the Senior Director will provide energetic and visionary leadership for the strategic implementation and direction of the day-to-day activities of self-operated auxiliary functions that generate nearly $65 million in revenue. These auxiliary functions include the NC State Bookstores, Trademark Licensing, the Wolfpack One Card Office, Golf Course Operations, and student centers (Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center).

The Senior Director will also be expected to:

• Lead a team of directors who manage the bookstores operations, Trademark Licensing, the Wolfpack One Card office, golf course operations, Facilities Maintenance, and student centers (Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center);

• Manage auxiliary directors in the development of business and marketing plans as well as performance goals and data-driven metrics for the successful operation of auxiliary services programs;

• Work closely with Procurement and Contracting Services to prepare bids and Requests for Proposals and then direct staff in monitoring, collection, and reconciliation procedures for the department, ensuring contract compliance and vendor performance;

• Oversee and lead annual departmental budgeting and planning process in conjunction with senior divisional leadership; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor and manage financial performance, keeping senior leadership team abreast of each department’s financial status;

• Lead the implementation and assessment of auxiliary services strategic projects; • Identify new strategic business opportunities through contractual, partnership, and shared service

opportunities with an emphasis on continuous process improvement to optimize spending and enhance service delivery to the campus and regional community;

• Oversee directors in the facilitation of Auxiliary Services committees, and meet with faculty, staff and students as necessary;

• Engage stakeholders from the executive level, student affairs, enrollment management, academic affairs, financial services, student body, community and other campus constituencies to develop customer-centered plans, procedures, and policies; and

• Perform other job-related duties as required.

SEARCH SPECIFICS Requirements and Preferences Candidates shall possess post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus equivalent professional training and experience. In addition, candidates should have at least five years of experience working on a college campus with progressive administrative experience leading multiple auxiliary service departments. Preference will also be given to any candidate with a master’s degree and/or a CASP Certification.

The successful candidate will have working operational knowledge of the assigned functional areas within the Campus Enterprises operational umbrella and how each interfaces with other areas of the campus; demonstrated effective management and supervision of personnel; the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from direct reports, clients, customers, and the general public; the ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements and/or comprehensive annual financial reports; demonstrated skill set in planning, preparing budgets, and tracking financial performance; demonstrated ability to plan and implement multiple complex projects simultaneously within limited time constraints; experience in negotiating and managing contracts; excellent interpersonal teamwork skills; and demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills with a multi-ethnic and multi-culturally diverse community, including strong consultative, collaborative and mediation skills
