Raising to new heightsSormec Marine and Offshore Cranes manufactures hydraulic lifting systems for ships, vessels, oil rigs, barges and offshore services with everything made according to customer specifications.

Sormec was established in 1989 in Alcamo, western Sicily, as a family company. Thanks to the experience acquired in the hydraulic lifting field since 1980 and care of details in Design, Engineering, Construction and After-Sales Ser-vice of marine cranes, Sormec has gained a

prominent position in marine equipment man-ufacturing. The facility covers an area of twenty thousand square meters, eleven thousand of which are indoors.

Located only a ten minutes drive from the company’s main head office, the new Sormec building, with a space of 6.200 square meters, is placed in Partinico (PA) for the metallic carpentry, welding and painting procedures.

When required and needed, after sales service network provides support on site as well as by direct contact with the head office for the fast-est solution achievement. The rotating parts of the crane are provided with totally enclosed slew bearings in order to limit maintenance. All crane components are tested into the factory before being delivered to the customer.

Lift your business with our product rangeSormec can supply a complete customized range of cranes in order to meet all kind of requests. The product range extends from small cargo-handiling cranes of 10 tm to 4.000 tm offshore cranes. Each crane is suitable for general cargo handling, service and offshore applications. It is also provided, upon additional specific request, by all the main certification authorities.

The design is performed according to the type of employment to which the crane is planned.

SA seriesThe SA series is a fully hydraulic Stiff - boom Marine Crane on slewing bearings driven by hydraulic motors, with ca-pacities from 10 to 3000 metric tons.

TL seriesTL series is a fully hydraulic Telescopic - boom Marine Crane on slewing bearings. The lifting capacity extends from 10 up to 3000 metrical tons. Due to the telescopic boom configuration, the crane in stored position occu-pies a compact space.

KN seriesKN series is a fully hydraulic Knuckle - Telescopic - boom Ma-rine Crane on slewing bearings, from 10 to 500 metrical tons. Thanks to the double boom articulation and the telescopic configuration, the crane occupies a very reduced space in stored position.

EL seriesEL series is a fully hydraulic Elbow Knuckle - boom Marine Crane on slewing bearings, from 10 to 3000 metrical tons.

RB seriesRB series is a fully hydraulic Rescue Marine Crane; the crane fulfills the SOLAS/IMO requirements. The crane is de-

livered full assembled and tested.

FB seriesFB series is a fully hydraulic Foldable Knuckle - Telescopic - boom Marine Crane on pinion and rack or on slewing bearings, from 5 to 120 metrical tons. The crane is de-

signed for installation in reduced working areas.

EL/TL seriesEL/TL series is a fully hydraulic Elbow Knuckle - Telescop-ic - boom Marine Crane on slewing bearings, from 10 to 1500 metrical tons. Thanks to the double boom ar-ticulation and the telescopic configuration, the crane, in

stored position, occupies a very reduced space.

FRB seriesFRB series is a fully hydraulic Rescue Marine Crane; the crane fulfills SOLAS/IMO requirements. it is also pro-vided with a constant wire tensioning system (CT) and

shock absorber.

Offshore technology Sormec designs and manufactures a large number of offshore cranes. Internal mechanical, electrical and hydraulic engineers are constantly pioneering new technologies, making Sormec Offshore cranes a good results in stability, reliability, performance, durability and safety. Sormec can supply systems like AHC (Active Heave Compensation or CT Constant Tension), MOPS (Manual Overload Protection System), AOPS (Automatic Overload Protection System).

After sales service network provides support on site as well as by direct contact with the head office for the fastest solution achievement. One or more of our engineers, if requested, will travel your site and complete a training course with the personel involved in operating with the crane.The constant training of our team of dealers builds a better understanding of operating systems, components, maintenance, and repair of all our cranes, in order to solve any unexpected problem as soon as possible.

AOPS - Automatic Overload Protection SystemThe crane is protected of loads which are higher than the loads estimated in the crane’s design by an automatic overload protection system (AOPS). Activation of AOPS shall disengage the slewing and hoisting brakes automatically and shall reset to the initial position when the conditions for activation are no longer present. If the activation conditions return, it shall be activated again.

MOPS - Manual Overload Protection SystemManual Overload Protection System has the same function as AOPS but it works both during normal operation of the crane and in event of a power failure, that the reason why it is important that this function is activated manually. But it shall not be possible to activate the MOPS when the personnel lift mode is selected.

CT - Constant Tension system or Active Cable Tensioning system The Constant Tension equipment is an active rope tension system that keeps the rope constantly in tension. As soon as the crane moves because of boat oscillations, the load moves too. By an appropriate system of winch functioning, the rope compensates all the global movements.

AHC - Active heave compensation system AHC system is a system of active compensation of sea movements; it permits to firmly maintain the load at a fixed point in the sea space, by compensating the crane oscillations during lifting phase. An advanced system, acting both directions on the winch rotation, allows an

immediate compensation.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Expanding horizonsWe are growing our range products with new projects: A-Frames and Low magnetic.

Sormec A-Frames are designed to perform offshore load handling (plough deployment), subsea load handling (anchor handling) and launch and recovery of special tools and equipment.Sormec designs a-frames both in electro-hy-draulic and electrically–driven versions with a lifting capacity calculated according to cus-tomers needs. The crane structure is manufactured with steel plates, pipes duly shaped and electro. The sup-port vertical legs are built in electro welded steel sheets and fitted with a hydraulic cylin-

ders for lifting. The winch is founded on one of the A-frame’s deck foundation brackets and it is designed for lifting operations offshore.

Low magnetic crane is designed to reduce the magnetic interferences to the minimum level. Every main component is manufactured in a-magnetic material, magnetic. To reduce the magnetic permeability, all the components, for which it is not possible to use a-magnetic material, is treated by degaussing process in order to reduce residual magnetism. In addition for measuring magnetism level special magnetism measuring devices shall be used. The materials for the crane components manufacturing will be chosen among stainless steel and aluminium.
