Students As Creators - Feedback As I reflect back about my experiences thus far in the co-design group, I'm resoundingly astonished at the scope of, not only what we have achieved so far, but by what we plan to achieve in the future. Partnership has the unique capability to enhance higher education for everyone, not just students, by enabling unprecedented engagement in one's course because of a heightened sense of ownership of what one is doing. Certainly, that's what I've found has happened to me. Through learning about things from SOTL and challenging the accepted standards of curriculum design and assessment, the group experience has opened my eyes to just how difficult being responsible for a course is. Indeed, I would have never have known of the impending challenges higher education has if not for the group. These are things students merely didn't think about before.

However, in the spirit of partnership these problems become our problems and the group has started, and is continuing to address, things like managing core expectations, the 'consumer' concept in paid higher education, recognising that language is important, the role of marks in assessment, student engagement, the various pre-university backgrounds of students and their specific challenges and enhancing recognition. The co-design group provides a platform built upon the ethos of truly improving everyone's experience implemented by those within the current education system, not by those who are, in any way, detached from it. That is its true value. - Zak
