The Port of New York and New Jersey
The Port of New York and New Jersey is the largest port on the Eastern Seaboard and the third largest in the U.S. It’s network of terminals, railroads, roads, warehouses, and distribution centers keeps the world’s global trade industry moving. From cars to produce, the Port moves over $200 billion of cargo through its six terminals each year.
Our ability to get goods into the hands of consumers quickly is what gives the Port of NY & NJ its competitive edge —choosing us means your cargo gets to its destination faster than any other port on the East Coast.
Rail is Efficient for Business \ The Port of NY and NJ has capacity for 1.5 million annual rail lifts—
higher than any other East Coast port.
\ Four on-dock and near dock ExpressRail facilities service all of our
major marine terminals.
\ ExpressRail Port Jersey, the fourth on-dock and near dock facility,
completes the $600 million investment in on-dock rail.

Intermodal InvestmentsSignificant investments to support efficient rail movements to and from
our major container terminals expand and improve our intermodal rail
facilities, NYNJR’s rail facilities, and the Conrail network.
Collaborating with our rail partners helps our Port identify the
strategic improvements needed to add capacity and fluidity to our
regional network’s intermodal rail traffic.
The addition of a fourth ExpressRail, Port Jersey in Bayonne, increases
our total rail capacity to 1.5 million lifts annually.
$133 millioninvestment in NYNJR’s facilities provides robust infrastructure and the capacity to allow NYNJR to continue growing and improving goods movement across the harbor
$38 millioninvestment in a public-private partnership with Conrail to improve network capacity and fluidity
$600 millioninvestment in on-dock and near dock rail access to each of the Port’s major container terminals
