LEADERSHIP STYLE OF RAHUL BAJAJ
Final DECISION MAKING: Contrary to new trends in leadership practices, he does not believe in delegating authority to all and sundry. He likes to keep himself at the helm of things. Not that he does not give a patient hearing to others. He does it but the final decision is vested in him.
Honesty is the Best Policy: Rahul Bajaj believes in hard work more than anything else. It is no wonder he is one of the most admired and respected businessmen in India. Claims, he has never bribed anyone and has been an honest businessman through out his career. Has built a forture due to the sheer might of his will power
Concentration of Core Competency: Rahul Bajaj collaborated with Kawasaki for production of motorcycle but for scooter he did not go for any collaboration. Manufacturing scooters is his core competency and he does not want to experiment with that.
Never give up attitude: ‘Licence Raj’ was a nightmare for Bajaj. He does not believe in bringing Government officials and getting his license cleared. This is a major reason why Bajaj Auto came under MRTP and was allowed to expand its production capacity. But he did not give up to the Government conditions and after some years, done lobbying
through business housed and putting tremendous pressure on Government learn his license
BBC: Rahul Bajaj is well known for his unflinching frankness and varied opinion on every topic under the sun. His office is therefore popularly known as BBC (Bajaj Broadcasting Corporation)
WAY OF MOTIVATION,REWARDING
He has different view about his employees ,he did not have a great concern towards themAttitude towards workers: Bajaj has less kind of words for workers. Still, there has been only one strike in the history of 35 years of the company. He takes care of the needs of the workers and at the same time, he views workers as a tool for production. In his word’ “Why do they strike and lose wages? They should work more, earn more”
BAJAJ group came to know they are lag in employees care when compared to other companies so they are trying to implement employee welfare activities like sports, clubs, entertainment, fitness programmes
They conclude that in today’s world where Management, Leadership and Motivation are being redefined. In today's ultra-competitive business environment leadership is about building winning characteristics in to the organization so that achievement levels exceed normal expectations. Leadership is about doing things that Management does not define.
Changes in employee management and training had an enormous impact. It took 22,000 workers to produce 1 million vehicles in 2000, for example, but only half that number to make 1.8 million four years late
Now In addition, Bajaj Auto has consistently invested in R&D. The company's ability to develop products desired by the customer has been an important source of confidence for the future.

INFLUENCE ON TURNOVER
He took over the reins of Bajaj Group in 1965. Under his stewardship, the turnover of the Bajaj Auto the flagship company has risen from Rs.72 million to Rs.46.16 billion
That is roughly a change of 1800% growth of revenue was seen in bajaj group under his leadership
Under his leadership Bajaj became world’s fourth largest manufacturer of two wheelers
Bajaj's antiestablishment views prevailed, and by the beginning of the 1980s, Bajaj Auto had increased its annual production to 172,000 vehicles. Today, with revenues of $1.5 billion and a market capitalization of $3 billion, the company sells nearly 2 million vehicles per year in India and other developing countries in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia
It sold 11 million bikes since it had been launched. At annual sales of 1.5 million, it was the single biggest brand in the world. Hero Honda accounted for two-third of all bike sales in India.
For the year 2009-2010 Net sales and other operating income grew by 35% to over Rs.119 billion
2009-2010 year saw record sales of 2.85 million units – over 2.5 million motorcycles and 340,937 three-wheelers.
Exports rose by 15% to 891,002 units.
Exports has again done well this year, as it hadin the last. 2009-10 saw Bajaj Auto export over725,000 motorcycles and almost 165,000 three-wheelers.I expect 2010-11 will see us exporting over 1 milliontwo- and three-wheelers
He invested big money in R&D and product development and began to remake the fuddy-duddy “Hamara Bajaj” image of the company.
BUSINESS EXPANSION
In between 1990 to early 2000 tough competition with Hero Honda motorcycles then he made a tie up with Japanese companies to start production of Bajaj motorcycles he expanded his company in motorcycle segment eventough he is new to motorcycle segment
He made tough for his rival company Hero Honda with new releases of bikes in every fiscal and later in 2001 .
The recession and stock market collapse of 2001 hit the company hard and it was predicted that the days of Bajaj Auto were numbered. However, Bajaj Auto re-invented itself, established a world-class factory in Chakan, invested in R&D and came up with Bajaj Pulsar Motorcycle. Bajaj Pulsar is currently a leader in its segment.
