Mold Sampling (Testing)

Air sampling for mold is designed to quantify the respective airborne presence of fungal

spores in the interior living spaces in relationship to what is naturally occurring outdoors,

commonly referred to as normal fungal ecology.Air samples are collected by utilizing a high volume-sampling pump calibrated to a flow

rate of 15 liters per minute. The pump then impacts the drawn air into an Air-O-Cell

cassette. The cassette is a fully contained microscopic slide and media that collects any

airborne fungal spores and hyphae particles by impaction on the media.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):Air samples alone should never

be used to determine if a home has a mold problem. A visual inspection is the most

important part in determining if a structure has a mold problem.

Mold Inspections

We perform a very thorough non-intrusive visual inspection of the interior spaces using the

best technology and equipment available in the industry. On every inspection we use top of

the line infrared thermal imagining cameras to scan the building envelope for surfacetemperature differentials which helps identify potential moisture sources for mold.

For example: 1) active moisture evaporation at building materials from water intrusion or

loss; 2) air leakage at HVAC components (e.g. ductwork) or 3) missing insulation behind

building materials that cause surfaces to reach dew point (e.g. condensate). These are just

few of the many moisture sources for mold to grow. Areas we see or suspect symptoms of

moisture are verified wet using the most reliable moisture meters. These tools areessential to our findings and documentation.

Radon Testing

Radon is a radioactive gas. It comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in nearly

all soils. It typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through

cracks and other holes in the foundation. Your home traps radon inside, where it can build up.Any home may have a radon problem. This means new and old homes, well-sealed and drafty

homes, and homes with or without basements. In the United States, Radon is second only to

cigarette smoking in causing lung cancer. Radon is odorless and colorless and therefore

unrecognizable when present.

We perform Radon Tests using a Femto Tech monitor with hour by hour reading of the radon

level, barometric pressure, temperature and humidity. We also use a passive radon test fromAir Chek, Inc. as a quality control test with every monitor to ensure you receive the BEST

test. According to the Florida Department of Health: "In some areas of Florida, one out of two

homes has excessive amounts of radon."
