Radio Trails Analysis (CHANEL) Trail for (station/ channel) Italian Grand Prix Target audience Target audience is typically middle class, adult males who usually enjoy watching sporting events. Tone of voice? A variety of tones of voice used throughout (e.g. fast- paced & energetic at the start when the race is on, and from then on in the trail the tone of voice is much more casual & relaxed.) Another voice in the radio trail is one that lets the audience know about the important information, such as the channel & time it will be shown. This voice is more formal than the others, to show the importance of getting this information across to the listeners. Sound effects? (SFX) Sound effects from the Grand Prix are used, mainly from the racing taking place. The main aim for this is to attract the target audiences’ attention quickly. Wildtrack/ ambient sound? No ambient sound used. Use of music? Fast paced music is used in the background of the sound effect and voice overs, which is used to help intensify the audiences’ excitement for wanting to watch this programme when it is premiered. How many tracks? There is a total of 5 tracks: commentator, voice overs, driver, sound effect of racing and background noise (each has its own track) Sound levels? Sound levels are very consistent, with little change throughout the radio trail. When there are voices to be heard, the sound effects and background noise sound levels drop to allow the audience to hear the speech clearly. Length?
