RADAN™ 7 Release Notes Version 7.5.18.02270

Please see RADAN7-SystemRequirements.pdf if you are considering upgrading to RADAN 7 from

earlier versions of RADAN or if you want to review the system requirements.

7.5.18.02270

Added/Changed Features

1 Added two new processes:

a. Noise Band Removal Process – designed to provide enhanced capability for removing

horizontal banding in the data. This process uses certain characteristics of horizontal bands

to preferentially remove them without significantly impacting target reflections.

b. Adaptive Gain Process – gain is applied in a manner to equalize the amplitudes in the

horizontal direction (i.e. along the profile) as well as vertically.

2 Added support for viewing and exporting LineTrac data.

3 Synchronization of Cursor from 3D window to Linescan, OScope, and Location

Windows.Previously, synchronization was only done when mouse was in Linescan window.

4 Added GPR System info to Header Property Page

5 Added vertical line synchronization between LineScan, Depth, and AC Data panes when user clicks

on one of these windows.

6 Updated background images with GSSI’s new company logo

7 Support for PalmXT and UtilityScan files.

Bug Fix

1 Interactive Interpretation - Fixed bug where ground-truth calculated dielectric might not provide

correct depth for target picks for non-Mini-series antennas.

2 Multiple Channel SIR30 files - Now can process files split on the SIR30 - requires new SIR30

version as changes were also on the SIR-30

3 Batch Files: Targets and Layers from all input files are now included in batch files. This was broken

in Radan7 versions subsequent to 7.4.16.10193.

Page 2: RADAN 7-Release Notes

4 Vertical positions of targets picked on the MiniXT are now properly adjusted when the data are

opened in RADAN7.

5 SEGY - Fixed reading of IEEE Floating Point SEGY Data

6 SEGY - fix for IEEE floating point values - now if value is >= -1 and <=1, it is multiplied by

(MAXINT>>8)

7 Interactive Interpretation - Fixed issue with using select block when on channel 2 and adding targets

to unmigrated data. Previously it added one target per scan.

8 Range Gain Process: Fixed "Apply" when Overall Gain value is changed

9 Fixed issue with 3D gridding for condition where input files have both Local 3D coords and GPS,

but Local 3D coords do not comprise a 3D area (i.e. x-dim or y-dim is zero)

10 FIR: Modified horizontal FIR filter initialization - now all FIR horizontal filters are the same as the

filters specified for channel 0. They can be written independently on the SIR_30, but are designed to

the the same for each channel.

11 BridgeScan – Fixed bug where end of bridge didn’t show up when creating a 3D file.

7.4.16.12090

Bug Fix

1 3D - Fixed bug where of target drawn in 3D offset vertically from true location if vertical and

horizontal units weren't the same.

2 3D -Fixed bug where horizontal location of target shown in 3D was not properly drawn for profile

lines shorter than the longest profile line in the 3D file.

3 Bridge Deterioration - fixed bug related to creating 3D files from data obtained in zig-zag mode.

Previously, profiles weren't correctly oriented if the user didn't select at least one starting or ending

joint.

4 Migration - Fixed bug related to all the scans being shifted to the left by 1/2 the migration width

when the user pressed the "APPLY" button.

5 Custom Image Export - added delay between drawing scans and capturing them in attempt to fix

issue where on some computers the full-file image export doesn't work properly. Unable to assess if

this fix works because no computers that demonstrate this issue are available.

6 Interactive Interpretation - Fixed bug where user cannot add points to targets other than the first

target when using the Select Block or Select Range.

7 3D Display - Fixed Crash occurring with Intel HD Graphics 5500 display drivers on open of 3D files

that were previously closed with the 3D window open.

8 Fixed tabbing order for all windows. So now the user will be able to tab from one entry to the next.

7.4.16.11210

Added/Changed Features

1 Full processing capability for MiniXT files

2 Added 64x64 Pixel buttons for the Ribbon Icons to accommodate greater resolution screens

3 Added Lat/Long and 3D coordinate info to SEGY-exported files.

4 Header: Added sample stacking info to header (information only available on SIR-30 and later

systems)

5 Header: Added scan stacking info to header (information only available on SIR-30 and later

systems)

Bug Fix

1 3D Gridding process - Applies to single or multiple random walk files with GPS: previously the

gridded Z-slice didn't show up due to change in RADAN7 in spring of 2016. This issue is fixed in

this build for newly-created gridded files. Older Gridded files with GPS will still not show the Z-

slice.

2 RoadScan: Checking now done to see if user has done any position-shifting when looking at horn

antenna calibration and asphalt files in Roadscan processes. Previously, potential trouble could arise

when SIR-30 files had manual signal positioning done in the Position process in RADAN prior to

running the Calibration or Reflection-Picking process.

3 GPS Units - Now when GPS is imported, it is displayed with default global units (e.g. Lat. Long. or

UTM). Previously it was always imported in decimal degrees.

4 Fixed incorrect file processing and display of some DF and SIR-4000 files.

5 CSV Export - Fixed bug related to inability to disable filter options when attempting to modify an

existing CSV Export config.

6 Processing - Process status bar now updates at a rate determined by the maximum of the input file

scans and output file scans. This guarantees it never reaches the end before the file is finished

processing

7 GPS import - for cases where DZG file extends beyond DZT file; now clipping last GPS point in

file. Previously, if no GPS record tied to last DZT file scan, last DZG position was used.

8 GPS import - now when import GPS using menu option, if there are GPS points in the selected file,

the previously loaded GPS points are deleted. Previously existing GPS points weren't deleted.

Page 4: RADAN 7-Release Notes

7.4.16.0623

Added/Changed Features

1 3D File Creation: Changed maximum number of files in M3D from 1000 to 5000.

2 GPS: Added ability to import GPS data containing all GGA sentences. Previously it was limited to

GPGGA. Now, for example, can import GNGGA sentences.

3 Changed filter for bad GPS Records:

a) Ignore Checksum;

b) On automatic GPS import (i.e. on file open) records with HDOP >2 or =0 are rejected; and

c) On GPS import selected from menu no HDOP filter is applied.

Bug Fix

1 3D: Fixed issue where slice creation method was stuck on "Max". Now "RMS" method works.

2 Image Export: Now when user selects "Full File" option, the window option automatically switches

to "LineScan" because this is the only window that can be exported in "Full File" mode.

3 GPS: Fixed registration issue that may occur when have different length files in a 3D file that has

GPS coordinates assigned to it during or after the 3D file is created.

4 Fixed wrong antenna center frequencies appearing in Channel Property page.

7.4.15.0929

Added/Changed Features

1 3D File Creation: Changed maximum number of files in M3D from 500 to 1000.

7.4.15.0925

Added/Changed Features

1 Migration: Now user can edit the dielectric directly through the menu.

Bug Fix

1 Migration: Fix in updating the .vlc file in Migration.

2 Google Earth Related: Fixed issue related to not enough significant digits in latitudes and longitudes

exported to Google Earth and KML files. This was especially noticeable for cases where latitudes

and/or longitudes were in the hundreds.

Page 5: RADAN 7-Release Notes

7.4.15.0813

Added/Changed Features

1 Added a pop-up message box indicating that it is in RADAN reverted to reader mode if the software

was not activated (i.e. demo expired) the first time a file is opened in each session.

2 Changes related to the activation status changing between RADAN Sessions – RADAN will

automatically start in the mode appropriate to the correct activation status.

a. If status is downgraded (i.e. demo expired), it opens up in RadanReader mode the next time.

b. If status is upgraded, it opens up in the appropriate configuration depending on the

activation - for example if it is activated as RADAN standard, it will open up in RADAN

Standard.

Bug Fix

1 Migration: Fixed issue for short files. Previously, the migration process shortened the file

unexpectedly.

7.4.15.0728

Added/Changed Features

1 Changed the method of Amplitude Offset Removal in RADAN to be compatible with the way we

are doing this in the SIR-4000. This included always performing an IIR High Pass Filter for each

new scan.

2 Changed the way that Velocity Analysis is run by always doing the velocity analysis automatically

by default.

3 The Direct wave arrival time for Velocity Analysis is now estimated.

7.4.15.0702

Added/Changed Features

1 RADANMini and RADANDF: Previously, users of these two products didn't have 3D functionality

unless the 3D Module security bit was set. Starting from this version, RADANMini and RADANDF

users will not need this module in order to view and process 3D Files. The module will still be

required when working in the full RADAN mode.

Page 6: RADAN 7-Release Notes

2 RADANMini and RADANDF: now the 3D Ribbon will appear automatically when opening 3D

window.

Bug Fix

1 On initial opening of 3D window the 3D properties window (on the right side of the RADAN

display) did open. This was a problem because the properties window should only be available for

users with standard RADAN and the 3D module.

7.4.15.0604

Added/Changed Features

1 Manual Import of GPS coordinates – previously, after importing GPS from the "G" button dropdown

menu option the file had to be closed and reopened before GPS coordinates appeared on location and

3D windows. Now file doesn't have to be closed and reopened.

2 Horizontal Scaling: When skipping scans, the scaling will now preserve the last scan in the profile.

Bug Fix

1 Horizontal Scaling: Fixed issue with incorrect handling of profile boundaries (observed when

performing horizontal scaling process on data with GPS).

7.4.15.0427

Added/Changed Features

1 3D file creation - no longer limiting the display of the filename to 10 characters in the window

listing the files and their 3D coordinates.

Bug Fix

1 Fixed an issue which occurred when more than 18 files were open the same time.

7.4.15.0424

Added/Changed Features

1 Updated Manuals

Page 7: RADAN 7-Release Notes

7.4.15.0312

Added/Changed Features

1 Added 3D and GPS coordinate CSV Exports to RADAN for UtilityScan DF.

This means that if a file has GPS coordinates and local 3D coordinates, then the exported CSV file

will contain the current coordinates (either GPS or 3D) which are being displayed.

If the file has neither local 3D coordinates nor GPS coordinates, then only distance, target name, and

target depth are exported.

2 Excel export for the UtilityScan DF module - Exported image now being automatically resized to fit

neatly in Excel spreadsheet. Previously it needed to be manually resized by the user.

3 Added Ribbon View tab to UtilityScan DF module. This tab contains the option to switch between

3D and GPS coordinates, which is important for 3D files collected with both local 3D coordinates

and GPS.

7.4.15.0306

Added/Changed Features

1 Removed automatic openening of the Global window when all files were closed.

2 Changed Manuals for the RADAN for UtilityScan DF processing and for the RADAN for

StructureScan Mini processing.

Bug Fix

never saved to the DZX file.

7.4.15.0213

Bug Fix

1 RoadScan - fixed issue where 41000S calibration files not processed correctly on SIR-30 when full

direct-coupling is shown in the data (which appears as two waveforms preceding the metal plate

reflection).

7.4.15.0211

Added/Changed Features

1 Display of Targets and Layers - New functionality: The first time a file is opened in RADAN7, the

targets and layers are shown. The show/hide status is then saved when the file is closed.

2 Added processing history to the Header Export option.

Page 8: RADAN 7-Release Notes

3 Added the ability to export headers from individual files in BZX file.
