role Welsman, Anancaona de Cuba, Klimax, Michel Legrand, Ginette Reno, Alex Bellegrade, Sophie Desmarais, and more.

Elidio Chappotin, Yasek Manzano and Gorge Rubio. She completed her Bachelor‟s degree in Jazz interpretation at Université de Montréal in 2010

THE QUINTET
RACHEL THERRIEN
The Rachel Therrien Quintet, formed by Rachel Therrien in 2009, after her stay in Cuba, is a group of Jazz musicians that perform original composi-
tions. Rachel is a young trumpeter and accomplished composer in the Montreal Jazz scene. After having played with several combinations of musi-
cians, she has found the perfect ensemble for her many compositions. (Charles Trudel at piano, Alain Bourgeois on drums, Simon Pagé on bass, and
Sebastian Fortin on saxophone) Owing to the talent of her musicians, she is able to bring her compositions to a higher level of interpretation for your
listening pleasure.
Rachel Therrien incorporates various influences into her compositions. From the Jazz standards of Freddie Hubbard to Breckers groove, through
different styles from Miles to a touch of traditional Cuban, she has composed a unique style of her own.
The quintet has performed in the four corners of the Montreal music scene over the past year and has released their first album in September 2011.
Rachel Therrien is confident that her quintet will enjoy success in the near future. The quintet just confirmed an international career after a series of
concerts they did at the INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL in HAVANA, CUBA, in december 2010 . The Rachel Therrien Quintet is a group to watch for
all lovers of original Jazz music.

Laurent Leblond - August 27, 2011
After listening to her album, it is confirmed, the talent this
young composer-musician has is wide-ranging. Her creations
are fuelled by rhythms of Jazz, Blues or South American, just
as much as Afro-Cuban. This first opus forecasts good times a
head.
Review from SORTIES JAZZ NIGHTS news
September 1, 2011
There aren't a lot of women playing jazz trumpet. Besides Ingrid Jensen and
Maiden Voyage, this is a vast inhabited region, so hats off to young trumpeter
Rachel Therrien. After nine months in Cuba in 2008 and training in jazz inter-
pretation with Ron Di Lauro at the UdeM, she dives into the world of jazz.
Surrounded by a top-notch quartet : Charles Trudel, piano, Sébastien Fortin,
sax, Simon Page, bass and Alain Bourgeois, drums, the trumpeter gives us ten
original tracks, jazz in a hard-bop mode, Art Blakey version. Using finesse ra-
ther than power, such as Howard Mc Ghee, Kenny Dorham and Ron Di Lau-
ro, Rachel Therrien lays out her vision of jazz with Yemaya à Montréal, Dadas
Blues, Me Voy. Keep your ears and eyes on her.
