RACHANE - News letter, Dept. of Civil Engg. JSS ATE, Bengaluru 1 Civil Engineering Department was started in the year 2009 with an intake of 30 students for Under Graduate (B.E) program and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. Presently the department is headed by Dr. Nagabhushana. The present intake of UG course is 60. The department is well equipped with the state-of-the-art laboratories, class rooms, well staked library and is supplemented with Wi-Fi facility. It is a recognised VTU research centre. Department is celebrating birth Centenary Celebrations of Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji by organizing many fruitful programmes. The department is practicing Outcome Based Education (OBE) as a part of NBA Accreditation process. This issue of the newsletter traces major activities in the department during the period July- December 2016. Indeed, we have been very busy in organising various internship programmes and workshops. Book bank facility is available for students. To produce responsible, technically qualified professional with ethical and human values by providing excellent “Teaching-learning” and Research”. M 1 Impart fundamental technical knowledge through learner-centric teaching methodology. M 2 Empower student and faculty by involving in co-scholastic and research activities. M 3 Equip students to face socio-technical challenges with ethical and human values. PEO 1: Apply the knowledge of science and technology to achieve sustainability in construction. PEO2: Able to plan, analyze, design, execute and manage civil engineering works. PEO 3: Involve in research and professional consultancy with ethical and societal responsibilities. I am highly delighted to see that the Department

of Civil Engineering is bringing out a newsletter.

It is a good attempt to create a platform for

sharing all relevant information regarding the

major events of the Department. I wish all the best

for this attempt. I also hope that the students and

staff will be highly benefited in creating a good

academic ambience in the Department.

The department of Civil Engineering is bringing a

newsletter to provide an opportunity to all

students and staff to share their views and to have

a good interaction among them. It is planned to

have this newsletter as bi-annual so that the

information regarding all major events of the

department will be made available to all

1. Department had organized a guest lecture

on “Valuation and Project Management”

in association with Civil Engineering

2. Parent-teacher meeting was conducted on 19th

of May 2018 to discuss the growth of the

students.

3. A consultancy work of worth Rs.18 Lakhs was

taken up under department of MGNREGS on

Work, Timw and Motion studies in Mysore,

Dakshina Kannada and Kolar Districts. The

students of 3rd year were involved in this

consultancy work to enrich their practical

knowledge and experience
