MOTEC’s groundbreaking new i2 data analysissoftware has been developed over a numberof years with valuable input from professionalrace teams worldwide.

It delivers an extensive package of powerful analysis tools andinnovative data management features, whilst maintaining asimple and intuitive user interface.

Designed from the ground up for speed and flexibility, i2allows a diverse range of users to tailor their analysisenvironment with any combination of graphs, gauges andreports in a Workbook based project.

There are two levels of functionality - i2 Pro and i2 Standard.i2 Pro requires the optional Pro Analysis upgrade on MOTECECUs and Logging systems, while the Standard version isfree for all users.

Those familiar with MOTEC’s original Interpreter analysisprogram will notice significant advances in this newgeneration software, which can be downloaded at no costfrom the MOTEC website at www.motec.com.au.

WORKBOOKS & WORKSHEETS

i2’s Workbook and Worksheetstructure is flexible andintuitive, allowing users tosystematically organise datainto logical screen layouts.

Each Worksheet can containany combination of analysiscomponents includinggraphs, histograms andgauges, all of which may be individually customised.

The software is equipped with existing worksheet templatesthat can be tailored to individual requirements.

COMPLETE CUSTOMISATION

The increasing diversity ofMOTEC users in recent yearshas prompted a need forsoftware that easily adapts toindividual preferences.

i2’s unprecedented level ofcustomisation allows users,

both professional and amateur, to tailor data analysis tools tosuit their specific requirements.

i2’s menus and terminology adapt to suit the specific type ofmotorsport category, for example Circuit Racing, DragRacing or Rally.

Customisations such as user settings, screen layouts andmaths are stored in an i2 Project for ease of administrationparticularly when dealing with multiple vehicles or motorsportcategories and when sharing data in a team environment.

GRAPHS

Graphs are a fundamental part of data analysis and are thesingle most important tool for seeing changes in data overtime or distance. i2's Graph component is quick and easy touse, incorporating a number of unique and powerful features:

DUAL CURSORMEASUREMENTSDifferential measurementscan be made by placing twoindependently controlledcursors on the one graph.

i2 automatically calculatesthe difference in channelvalue between the twocursors, as well as the

min, max, average and time/distance differential.Comparisons can also be made simultaneously acrossmultiple overlays.

OVERLAPPED & TILEDMODESUsers can group any numberof channels together on thesame scale, or configure themindividually. Channelscan be displayed in asimple tiled mode oroverlapped for a moreadvanced view.

i2 can quickly togglebetween these modeswith the press of a key.

OVERLAYSOverlays provide an effective way of comparing multiple setsof data by simultaneously displaying two or more laps fromprevious outings, sessions or drivers.

Whilst being an effective tool for highlighting problematicareas, overlays can also identify the best performancethrough a section of track. When evaluating driverconsistency it is easy to see differences in braking points,throttle application and steering input.

GRAPHICALOVERLAY ALIGNMENTIn conjunction with theability to view data indistance mode, i2 providesa simple mechanism tographically slide theoverlay data into precisealignment.

TIME VARIANCEThe Graph Variance Plot provides a quick view of where timehas been gained or lost between laps, making it easy to zeroin on areas of difference.

CHANNELS

Many channel properties such as colour, display units andmin/max scales can be changed globally, allowing users tomaintain consistency across all data components.

i2 can perform automatic unit conversion to ensure thatchannels are displayed in the users preferred units (forexample metric or imperial).

COMPONENTS

i2's flexible set of components allows users to easily andeffectively view their data. These components include:

CURSOR & ZOOM LINKINGThe graph zoom leveland cursor position canbe linked to othercomponents such ashistograms, scatter plotsor other graphs. Thedisplayed data andcursors will shift in

accordance with the selection, updating all of thecomponents consistently.

DATA EXPORTChannel data can be exported for the outing, lap or currentlyzoomed area.

REPORTS

VIDEO

The various i2 reports provide simple to read statisticalsummaries in both tabular and graphical format.

USER DEFINED TRACK SECTIONSAny number of sections may be defined for use in reports.This flexibility enables multiple reports to be based ondifferent track sections.

CHANNEL REPORTSChannel reports allow users to view statistical summariesacross track sections (or laps) for any number of configuredchannels. Statistical functions include: min, max, averageand standard deviation along with section start and endvalues and their differences.

SECTION TIME REPORTSSection time reports showsection split times along withgain/loss times for overlays.The report also includes thefastest rolling and eclecticlap times and consistencyhighlighting.

Both Section Time Reports and Channel Reports supportexport of data into CSV formats.

TRACK REPORTSTrack Reports present thesame channel statistics asthe Channel Report but ina graphical format, makingit easy to see where theevents occurred.

The Track Report also showsone or more channels as acolour gradient which isuseful for identifying braking or accelerating areas, or forvisualising any other channel. The colour gradients of twolaps can also be compared side by side.

In addition, i2’s Cursor Animation feature shows the relativetrack position at any time during two different laps.

i2 allows users to link multiple video streams (e.g. from in-carcameras), with logged data, enabling synchronised playbackof footage alongside other analysis components.

Multiple camera angles canbe viewed concurrentlyand, when overlay data isselected, these viewsupdate to show a side byside comparison.

No special hardware isrequired; users simplymount a standard videocapture device.

MATHS

The new i2 maths system provides fast, easy to use facilities.

FAST ON DEMAND MATHS PROCESSINGi2’s maths system uses an ‘on demand’ calculationmechanism to reduce data load times. Maths channels areonly calculated as needed so users are never left waiting forunnecessary calculations. This ensures fast access to thedata when it counts.

MATHS EQUATIONSi2's new expressioneditor allows users toenter maths equationsin a simple and easy to

read format. With an extensive set of in built mathsfunctions, new channels can be derived from logged andexisting maths channels. Simple import and export facilitiesenable maths to be easily shared with others.

PREDEFINED MATHS CALCULATIONSi2 includes a number of predefined maths calculations,tailored to suit each racing category. For example, circuitracing includes oversteer, pitch and roll calculations whiledrag racing includes calculations such as clutch slip andinput shaft speed.

SETUP SHEETSi2’s setup sheets allowvehicle setup parameterssuch as spring rates andgear ratios to be recordedfor each log file. Thesevalues can then be used inmaths to create vitalanalysis channels.

The setup sheets are stored in a spreadsheet, giving users agreat deal of flexibility in how they use the data.

DATA GATINGi2 supports advanced Data Gating, allowing regions of datato be excluded from histograms, scatter plots and othercomponents according to a user specified maths condition.

AUTO RUN INSERTIONTo quickly and precisely alignlogged data against an actual run,users simply enter their time slipdetails and i2 automaticallydetermines the start of therun in the data.

i2 also allows drag racers toenter other important detailssuch as lane, weather, splittimes and terminal speed.

DRAG RACING FEATURESCOLOUR SCHEMES

The Colour Schemesfeature allows theoverall appearance of i2to be changed to suituser preferences, or toadapt to indoor andoutdoor lighting.

For example, someusers may prefer towork with a blackbackground rather than white, whileothers may wish to define their own.

The print colours can be definedseparately to ensure optimum printclarity and minimal ink usage.
