Rabies Found in Bat at Wal-mart Store

RABIES FOUND IN BAT AT WAL-MART STORE A bat testing positive for rabies was found hanging from a basket at a local Super Wal-Mart. The bat was hanging from a motorized cart. and bit the person who removed it from the cart. The bat was tested and found to be positive for rabies, so the person that was bitten will have to undergo a series of vaccinations to protect them from the potentially fatal sickness. Authorities are also trying to determine who was driving the cart. The driver left almost immediately after checking out and did not leave contact information. The authorities are also trying to find out if anyone else came in contact with the bat. They said that being close to or in the vicinity of the bat was not reason to be alarmed. They encouraged anyone who touched the bat to call the Department of Health at 505-827-0006. An article in the June 5, 2015 Albuquerque Journal on the bat-attack can be read by clicking here .
