Welcome Letter Dear Prospective Raas Mania Participants, We are proud to announce the first annual Raas Mania competition which will take place on February 23rd, 2013 in Champaign, IL. On behalf of the Raas Mania Executive Committee, we would like to thank you for your interest in applying! Our goal is to bring the most talented garba/raas teams together to touch back to our roots and compete for cash prizes, Raas All-‐Stars qualifying bid points, and more! We invite you to help us reach this goal as we start our new tradition. Each team must submit all necessary registration materials that are found in this packet. A checklist is attached to help you stay organized and make sure that all the required materials are completed before submission. The deadline for submission is November 9th, 2012. Anything received after this date will require a late fee (more information below). Team captains will receive a confirmation email once all materials are received. If your team is selected, you will receive an additional registration packet. The entire board is planning to make this a very memorable weekend for you! Team Rules and Regulations
• Participants may NOT be enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-‐Champaign
• Each team is allowed a maximum of 18 participants including dancers, alternates, and managers.
• At least 75% of the participants must be currently enrolled at the respective university, including managers and gophers. A student ID will be required from each participant for registration.
• All team members must be at least 18 years of age. Contact registration chairs if any participants are under the age of 18 for an additional form.
• Teams must fill out the Roster Form and Waiver form (can be found in the packet) and submit it with registration materials.
• IMPORTANT: In order to make changes in the team roster or replace participants, team captains MUST contact Raas Mania registration chairs. Only the members listed on the team roster will be allowed to attend the team mixer and receive access to the stage on competition day.
Competition Rules
• The dance routine cannot exceed 7 minutes, and must be a minimum of 6
minutes • A maximum of 2 minutes and 30 seconds of garba is allowed • 16 dancers will be allowed on stage with 2 managers/alternates. Each
team can have a maximum number of 18 participants registered. Complete competition rules will be released with the registration packet II to teams that are selected. If you have any questions, please contact the registration chairs.

Application Process The application includes a/an: Registration Form Team roster form Team release and waiver form Audition Video Nonrefundable application fee Photocopy of each members’ Student ID To be sent via Postal Mail:
• Photocopies of STUDENT IDs for ALL participants. • Completed Registration and Team roster form • Signed waiver form which is required to be signed by all participants • A $25 non-refundable registration fee made out to Indian Student
Association and sent to 502 E. Springfield Ave. Apt 310 Champaign, IL 61820. Late registration will be accepted until November 14th, 2012 with a fee of $35 These fees are non-negotiable and non-refundable.

• ONE copy of the audition video via www.wetransfer.com Below are official guidelines for the audition video:
a. Go to www.wetransfer.com b. Click on “add files” to upload the video file. The file cannot be larger
than 2GB and can be in any format. c. Under “Enter friend’s email address(es)”, enter
[email protected] d. Enter your email next. e. For the optional message section, enter your school and team name f. Click “transfer”, which will take you to an upload status page. g. A confirmation email will be received once the video is sent to us.

Audition V ideo Guidelines
• Teams must submit a video that is a minimum 2 minutes and maximum 3 minutes with a routine that is exact or similar to the one that will be performed on stage on competition day. Any dancing beyond 3 minutes will not be considered.
• A maximum of 1 minute of garba is allowed in the audition video.
• The video must be from the 2012-‐2013 season. Old performances will NOT be accepted.
• The video must be filmed with one camera angle. Do not zoom in and out or change camera angles.
• The video CANNOT be edited and must be a continuous clip. Sound overs will only be allowed under special circumstances. Please contact registration chairs if needed.
Any sound overs/edits done without contacting Raas Mania registration will lead to disqualification.
• The video must include 80% of the participants that will actually perform on competition day.
• Stunts, costumes, and theme incorporation is NOT allowed.
• IMPORTANT: Clothing with school name, logos, or any other writing is NOT allowed.
