This project utilizes the nature of a city as a cyborg machine which contrasts with the complexity of the human sys-tem. Drawing collages and conceptual models were inspired from the idea of a human as a landscape as well as using the political philosophy of Al-Farabi. Cy-IVYNHZHUHY[PÄJPHS^VYK[OH[JVTIPULZthe words Cybernetic and Organism. It is ‘a person whose physical tolerances or capabilities are extend beyond normal human limitation by a machine or other L_[LYUHSHNLUJ`[OH[TVKPÄLZ[OLIVK`»Zfunctioning: an integrated man-machine system. This project would evolve into a inhabited city that is vital, self-sup-porting, independent and owned by its inhabitants. A cyborg or biomorphic device[city] that ultimately enhances and exaggerates our ability to input sensory information from the environment and/or increase its dynamic range.

Future virtuous cities exhibit their na-ture as amalgams of built environments and specialized people. This interaction is what constitutes the daily rituals and transforms our colonies as human be-ings into memorials to our struggles, successes, failures and glory. Designed cities…their origin, birthplace, form, KLZPNULYZ HUK I\PSKLYZ \Z\HSS` YLÅLJ[that and try to conform to cosmic rules and ideals. In general, cities are formal clusters that maintain a certain concen-tration of power and culture. They tend to be large, dense and exhibit physical circumscription of materiality and sym-bolic living.Note that wealth is equally distributed among the inhabitants in a virtuous set-ting and there is a strong reliance on symbolism to record to maintain the JP[`»Z SPULHNL OPZ[VY` HUK HѝYT P[Z PT-portance and path towards the future.

The site for this massive visionary devel-opment is a space between two steep surfaces, a gorge in the southern part of the state of Arizona [hot and dry]. It is almost halfway between two major met-ropolitan areas that are connected via a high speed Maglev system and a 14 m four lane highway. You may intercept these two elements and take advantage of them through integration. However, you may not terminate them or com-promise their integrity. Determine the exact location and arrangement of these transportation lanes on your site.
