Mission Statement

Why I would make a great RA next yearI have had a very suc-cessful year this year in E. Pengilly. I could use my experiences from this year to further develop rela-tionships with the future freshmen. I would reflect on the mistakes I made this year and use them to improve next year. Since I know the ropes, I can fo-cus on ideas that I want to incorporate for next year- such as more pro-gramming, even closer community, and more one-on-ones with residents.

Describe strengths & growth areas1. Developer2. Focus3. Analytical4. Maximizer5. IndividualizationI excel at creating events, executing events properly, clear commu-nication. I also have an aesthetic eye for organi-zation and design. I see potential in others. I also focus on strengths to make them even better. However, I can focus on improving weaker areas and seeking out quiet residents.

This year has been the tough-est year of my college career. But also the most rewarding. I have been placed in situations that were outside of my orig-inal comfort zone but I have grown as a leader through them. I realized that as a lead-er, you have to enforce the rules even when you do not want to. And as a leader, I have learned how to be even more organized and flexible in order to be dependable for my residents and in cooperation with my triad and RD.

Some as-pects of HRL Lead-ership Training that were most bene-ficial to me

BCDs were the most intimidat-ing part of HRL formation but it was definitely the most beneficial to me. I remember personally still feeling unprepared for my role as an RA until BCDs because then, we were able to make mistakes and practically figure out how to handle a situation. Any time spent with our triad was helpful too be-cause it really bonded us and ded-icated needed time for goals and planning.

Describe how you have grown as a leader this year.

My main goal for this year was to create not just a community in E. Pengilly but a family. I wanted them to care for one another and to develop friendships across suites and consider each other sisters. I tru-ly believe that we achieved this goal, especially with about 20-25 girls at our “Family Time” small group ev-ery week. We have created a space of vulnerability and community that they are looking forward to “Family Time” each week.

Goals for the upcoming year

Demonstrate goals that you achieved this past year

• Continue ~50% attendance at “Family Time” small group (emphasize safe space, SLA make it club convo)• One-on-ones with residents (sign-up sheet)• More mixers with other freshman halls • Cooperation with on-campus organizations (Relation-ship IQ, Campus Ministry, IP., Wonderfully Made...etc.)

Applicants should demonstrate a stra-tegic plan for obtaining his or her goals and anticipated measurable out-comes. This may include personal, aca-demic, and spiritual goals in addition to those pertaining to HRL• Better time management (write everything down in a planner)• Sacrifice other commitments (maybe step down from Wonderfully Made leadership team)• Encourage more residents to find a home church (take them to church with me, go to University Church with them)
