CIRCULAR TO RIAR MEMBERS Circular n. 238 Dear Members, we are thrilled to announce that the 2014 event programme anticipated at the End of the Year Meeting and in the last Circular is confirmed. We have in store for You a series of prestigious and original rallies carefully organised to offer a variety of experiences that will meet the expectations and tastes of our diverse Membership. Unfortunately, it’s not always possible to please or involve everyone. Logistic issues and the exclusivity of some locations often prevent a wider participation. As usual, the only way to secure a place is early registration. * 10 May: “Modena, città dei motori - la Ferrari” (“Motor Town” Modena and Ferrari) Not to be missed visit to the Ferrari plant in Maranello (near Modena): an extraordinary RIAR exclusive personally granted by Ferrari’s President Avv. Montezemolo. The rally, entirely dedicated to Ferrari and its history, is open to a maximum of 70 RIAR-homologated classic Alfa Romeos. Our cars will enter the factory premises through the famous gate on via Abetone Inferiore 4 and park in the internal square named after Gianni Agnelli, where they will remain all day. The tour of the plant will be followed by a luscious meal in another Maranello landmark: renowned restaurant Cavallino, located opposite the plant, where Enzo Ferrari used to take for lunch friends, drivers and illustrious clients. Later, visit to the nearby Museo Galleria Ferrari, on via Dino Ferrari, and shopping in the numerous stores selling Ferrari-themed gifts and automobilia. That’s right, no need to go anywhere else! We’ll thoroughly enjoy a place the whole world dreams about, a place where the passion for automobile is a true religion, the cradle of a fascinating and glorious chapter of recent history which, like ours, is deeply rooted in Alfa Romeo’s tradition.

To attend, please fill the attached registration form in all its parts and return it to our Office as soon as possible (there are only 70 spots available!). The registration fee for a crew of strictly two members is € 140.00 (one hundred forty) to be paid, as usual by bank draft, no later than 10 April 2014. Participants must reach the square in front of Museo Galleria Ferrari (via Dino Ferrari, Maranello) by 9.30 am. We will then proceed together to the Ferrari plant. Latecomers will automatically be excluded and won’t be eligible for any refund. It’s possible to arrive in Modena on Friday afternoon (advanced booking required). RIAR will organise a dinner with local specialties for a maximum of 50 people at the Bollo restaurant in Panzano (MO), Castello Collezione Righini. Interested Members are kindly invited to confirm as soon as possible their presence at the dinner. Participants will be responsible for hotel reservations, confirmations and costs (suggested accommodation: Hotel Raffaello).

* 28 June-9 July: “XII° Rally Internazionale Vetture Storiche Alfa Romeo - la Grecia e il Peloponneso” (XII International Classic Alfa Romeo Rally - Greece and the Pelopennese). New extended rally in one of Greece’s most picturesque regions. A special itinerary rich in history and charm. A top-class programme which also includes a relaxing beach stay to enjoy some quiet time, sun and sea. Departure by ship from Ancona. Given the number of requests already received by our Office, we once again suggest an early registration. The final programme will be announced in the next Circular.

* 26-28 September: “60° Giulietta, 1954-2014, da Mantova a Verona” (Giuletta’s 60th Anniversary, 1954-2014. From Mantua to Verona). A special weekend entirely dedicated to celebrating the 60th anniversary of one of Alfa’s greatest cult vehicles. A car that marked an age, inspiring several coach builders, winning many international titles and bringing much prestige to the Milanese car maker. This itinerary in the hilly Valpolicella region retraces the milestones of the Giulietta’s history paying homage to its racing achievements, legendary champion Tazio Nuvolari (born in Mantua), our burning passion and true love, like Romeo and Juliet’s awaiting us in Verona. We strongly urge to enrol Giuliettas (and Giulia derivations) only, all versions welcome. An early arrival in Mantua and tour of the town is possible although not included in the official programme, which will be announced in the upcoming Circulars.

Starting from this month, it can count on a new tool to spread the “Alfa virus”, the contagious force at the origin of its success. This interesting space half way between a blog and a web site is an “information crossover” which not only gives voice to RIAR Members but also allows readers of all ages to access news and get a glimpse of Alfa Romeo’s culture, one of the most beloved symbols of Italian excellence.

General rules and regulations:

The registration fee covers one car and a crew of no more than two people. The above mentioned fee entitles the participants to receive full hospitality in the hotels and restaurants listed in the programme of the event which must be strictly observed. Hotel accommodations are in double room only. By registering, each participant declares he, his drivers, passengers, principals and representatives have read, understand and accept in full the regulations of the Event’s official programme and declares to waive his right to apply to the court or arbitration for episodes connected to the organization and/or the course of the event. The participant further hereby agrees to hold harmless and release R.I.A.R., the Organization of the Event, the Authorities who own or manage the roads travelled, all individuals and legal persons involved in the organization of the event from any loss, liability, damage or costs the participant, his drivers, passengers, employees, assets or belongings may suffer or cause to third parties and their belongings during the event.
