Her passion to lead has made this year a great experience for me. She has paved the way to a great year for me. Chamber leadership is very important to me and just seems to follow me. About 13 years ago, when I lived in Port Lavaca, I served on the Chamber Board and became the President of that organization. Now to be the leader of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce gives me great pride. When selecting a theme for this year, I kept thinking of a lighthouse and how the light guides the boats into harbor. This reminded me of our Chamber as it shines the light all over our community, the state and sometimes the nation. It stands tall with its 5-star Accreditation. It stays true to a Chamber’s role - guiding our members and driving our economy. This is going to be another fantastic year. Through promotion, leadership, advocating on your behalf, networking and most importantly, building and boosting our economy, I will continue to work hard making Aransas County, Rockport and Fulton the best place to visit, live and work. I am so excited about our Board of Directors and Committee Chair Strategy Planning Retreat. It will be held in August at Camp Aranzazu and in that retreat, we as leaders of your organization, will collectively plan an amazing “Program of Work.” We will publish the results of that retreat at an upcoming Chamber Luncheon. We will encourage each of you to get involved to help complete each task. This year will mark another great year for the Chamber in many ways. Businesses demand a lot from our staff and they give tirelessly every minute of every day. I would like to see our Chamber grow its membership and develop new programs to help our membership grow their businesses. Helping our members grow their businesses is a top priority of our Chamber. I believe that dedication and passion spills over into our organization making it one of the best in the nation. Our standing committees are strong, our events are well-planned and our staff is well-trained. We are heading in the right direction and we know where we are going. We want to provide you with quality programs, energized activities and efficient work results. I am extremely proud of our community and our Chamber. I will encourage each of you to get involved to help complete each task. Get involved and let the guiding light of the Chamber shine for you. Thank you! You might wonder “What does the Chamber do?”, below is a list of the Top 10 activities of the Chamber this past year followed by a recap of the year. I’d like to share a bit more of what the Chamber (its Board, Staff, and Volunteers) does. The Chamber is a resource to the community as the staff is asked on a daily basis for needed materials, data, insight, facts and figures, contacts and connections over and above the normal referrals, etc. It is asked on many occasion by Chambers across the nation for counseling and support and ideas. As business owners contemplate opening their business or expanding, they often visit with the Chamber getting a feel of the seasonality situation of doing business in our community, helpful hints, logistics, etc. in a trusted, confidential environment. The Chamber also encourages collaboration among the local attractions and continuously offers connections and support for their needed projects and events. Another aspect of the Chamber is its role to spearhead training and support for local businesses all the while encouraging skill sets of owners and employees to reach for higher levels. It is also a leader in bringing about speakers whether it be bringing a spokesperson from each of the plants in San Patricio and Nueces Counties to speak at a Board meeting or at events. These speakers are providing vital and pertinent information to grow our economy. The marketing plan to promote the community is of utmost importance to the Chamber and its execution is a major focus year round. 2015-16 Top 10 activities for the Chamber 1. 100+ new members bringing the total membership to 720 members. 2. Membership Benefit and Networking Programs - More membership benefits and networking opportunities are ongoing goals for the Chamber. Chamber events such as the monthly Chamber luncheons, the annual Christmas luncheon, the Business After Hours, Rockport-Fulton Night at the Hooks Game, the new Network Wednesdays, and all the monthly meetings continue to be opportunities to network, learn and grow. Two Chamber member benefit programs providing member discounts are: Credit Card Processing Program and the Rockport-Fulton Electric Coalition. They are designed to bring savings to our members. The Chamber Magazine, Member Window Decal, Member Website Icon, all work together to promote member to member business and shopping locally.

Governance - New Councils bringing together areas of our membership that normally would not gather.

Environmental Committee/Aransas Pathways – Sensitivity to the environment.

Legislative Advocacy – Ongoing monitoring. Building an agenda to give to legislators.

Financially Strong – Strong fundraising. Results are low annual dues for members.

Tourism Highlights – Tourism fuels our economy. Continuous work on promoting the community.

Accreditation – 5-stars – Continue to uphold that status for 20 years. And last but not least, the Chamber Board of Directors support a plan for the

staff of the Chamber to be on a professional career track. Each staff member is working towards a certification in their field of expertise within the Chamber and attends a week-long training for professional development and enrichment. This creates incredible behind the scenes work that keeps the Chamber operating at a 5-star level.

It is always a great day in Rockport-Fulton!
